SQUIRE by Sara Alfageeh and Nadia Shammas was a nominee for Best Graphic Novels & Comics in the 2022 Goodreads Choice Award. I love the story of courage in the midst of adversity, making the wrong right and being a hero. Not all heroes are big and strong, some of them are the last person you expected. Aiza’s story is that. A young girl who comes from a disfavoured nation and who dreams to be all she can be even if the odds are against her. I enjoyed the story and the beautiful illustrations. I however noticed some discrepancies in the illustrations and they were noticeable enough to bother me. Otherwise, it was an adventure worth reading. The ending was left open, and I would love to see what is next for Aiza and her companions.
