Review: The Summer Wives

The Summer Wives by Beatriz Williams My rating: 5 of 5 stars I just love Beatriz Williams' books! The Summer Wives is no exception. This complex love story takes place on Winthrop Island in the 50’s and 60’s. This is a story of forbidden young loves, of sin, of betrayal. A murder takes place, a young man goes to jail, a young lady moves away to become a movie star, a young lady stays in bitterness. Fast-forward 16 years and love finds a way to reunite the broken-hearted and to make a wrong right. This is a wonderful story filled with intricate plots and characters. #beatrizwilliams #books #bookreview #book #thesummerwives #booklover #bookish #bookstagram View all my reviews

Review: Us Against You

Us Against You by Fredrik Backman My rating: 5 of 5 stars Us Against You by Fredrik Backman is one of the most anticipated sequel this year. It all started in Beartown where hockey is everything to everybody. The lives of a young girl, a team captain and his best friend changed forever in the first book. The sequel picks up where the first book ended and it is a wild ride thereafter. How far will the people from Beartown go to support their hockey team? Too far? Most likely. This book is another tour de force by Backman. A must-read if you have read Beartown already. A big shoutout to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for this wonderful ARC of Us Against You . This book will be available at your favourite bookstore on September 4th, 2018. #books #bookreview #fredrikbackman #netgalley #simonandschuster #bookaddict #bookreviews #bookstagram #usagainstyou View all my reviews

Review: Robin

Robin by Dave Itzkoff My rating: 5 of 5 stars With HBO releasing Robin Williams: Come inside my mind documentary, I thought it would be a good idea to read one of his biographies to get to know him more. This one was written by Dave Itzkoff, a reporter for the New York Times who had the opportunity to interview Robin Williams several times and befriended him in the process. I discovered Robin Williams through Mork and Mindy, Goodmorning Vietnam, The Dead Poet Society and many more movies. What I did not know about him was provided in this well-written biography. I uncovered his struggles as an actor, father, and husband. Robin Williams was a complexed being and even right to the moment of his death, he remained a misfit. One aspect of his life the book highlighted and made me appreciate him more was his philanthropic spirit. Robin Williams will forever be one of my favorite comedians. RIP Robin! #robinwilliams #books #booklover #bookish #bookreview #bookworm Vi

Review: Summer Cannibals

Summer Cannibals by Melanie Hobson My rating: 3 of 5 stars This is Melanie Hobson's first novel. This story is about a broken family, broken hearts, broken vows, broken flowers, and a broken window. Three sisters come back to their childhood home in Hamilton, Ontario due to a family crisis. One sister is pregnant and suffers from pre-natal depression. She comes home in hope to get away from her husband and find family support. One sister takes advantage of the crisis to come home to help and get away from her routine. One sister comes back home to see if she can rekindle a teenage flame. The parents are strange and their story is even more strange. This book had great elements to become a solid story. The relationship between the three sisters is very interesting and I wish the author would have expanded further on that aspect and spend less time on the parents' story. Melanie Hobson's writing is great and I am looking forward to seeing more books from this aut
