Review: The Forgotten Room by Karen White, Beatriz Williams and Lauren Willig

The Forgotten Room  by  Karen White My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! Happy Monday!!! THE FORGOTTEN ROOM by Karen White, Lauren Willig and Beatriz Williams was a beautiful multi-generational story about love and loss. The story is told in three voices: Olive (1892), Lucy (1920), and Kate (1944). The three women are linked by an attic room in a mansion and a ruby necklace. They will each find love and face loss in the forgotten room. These three wonderful authors have created an enthralling story that will carry you through time and pull at the “what if” of your heart. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #theforgottenroom #karenwhite #laurenwillig #beatrizwilliams #berkleypublishing #penguinrandomca

Review: The Bennet Women by Eden Appiah-Kubi

The Bennet Women  by  Eden Appiah-Kubi My rating:  3 of 5 stars First of all, look at that cover!!! It is gorgeous! I love the design and all the vibrant colours. This beautiful book is marketed as a retelling of Pride and Prejudice. I read Pride and Prejudice and have seen several movie versions of the book and thought I knew the story well. I was not able recognise the plot in THE BENNET WOMEN. The story was cute and entertaining but did not reach me as I hope. I could not relate to the characters. I did however enjoy the multiculturalism aspect offered in the story and the strong female characters. This book will probably be more appreciate by a younger generation. It has good morale and insight on how to make good life choices. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadi

Review: This Is Not How It Ends by Rochelle B. Weinstein

This Is Not How It Ends  by  Rochelle B. Weinstein My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! Happy Friday! It just finished THIS IS NOT HOW IT ENDS by Rochelle B. Weinstein. This is a beautiful and touching love story. The writing is wonderful, and the interweaving between the three main characters are superb. The author built up the story to an amazing ending. I shed a few tears and reflected on the story after it ended to process my emotions and come to term with the conclusion. It is simply a beautiful book, and I am happy I read it. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #thisisnothowitends #rochellebweinstein #lakeunionpublishin #thomasallenandson #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: The Highland Fling by Meghan Quinn

The Highland Fling  by  Meghan Quinn My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE HIGHLAND FLING by Meghan Quinn was just the right amount of everything. I wish I had met a man like Rowan when I was in Scotland. Unfortunately, the handsome men were in hiding when I was there. I enjoyed the plot, the sexual tension, the quick come back, and the passionate discoveries. I did not like Rowan’s reaction when Bonnie discovered his secret. That was over the top and, if this happened to me, there would not have been a relationship afterward. A less intense event would have sufficed to create that tension. Otherwise, this book is fun and offers many LOL moments… especially the one with the power-washer! This is a perfect book for the beach or the cottage. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #il

Review: Widow's Island by L.A. Larkin

Widow's Island  by  L.A. Larkin My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! Author L.A. Larkin sent me a copy of her new book entitled WIDOW’S ISLAND. It took a while to get to me because Canada Post decided that it posed a threat to Canada’s security and had to open the package and examine it. They probably X-rayed it, tested it for drug traces and hidden messages. This is all in good humour, of course. The package was eventually released and I got my copy for review. Keep an eye for my review coming soon. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #canadianbookishlovers #widowsisland #lalarkin #bookouture #currentread View all my reviews

Review: The Good Father by Wayne Grady

The Good Father  by  Wayne Grady My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! O-M-G!!! This book was not at all what I expected; it was so much better. I was not sure where the story was ending in the beginning but then it just captured my heart and did not let go until the end. The final dialog between father and daughter was so emotional and touching. I lost my father last December and I was not there when he died. I have had so many regrets about that and reading this dialog reminded me that you can’t control everything… surely not death. This book is beautifully written and sounds true. I loved it. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #canadianbookishlovers #thegoodfather #waynegrady #doubleday #

Review: Not a Happy Family by Shari Lapena

Not a Happy Family  by  Shari Lapena My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. After reading NOT A HAPPY FAMILY by Shari Lapena, I have a new appreciation for my family. Although this is a work of fiction, it is not so farfetched to think that there are such families in real life. I love Ms. Lapena’s books and this one is no exception. Her writing is right on point and brings up reactions from the reader. This book is well constructed and delivers a strong ending. If you enjoyed a complex family relationship staged in a thriller, this one's for you. Great book! #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #canadianbookishlovers #notahappyfamily #sh

Review: Such a Good Wife by Seraphina Nova Glass

Such a Good Wife  by  Seraphina Nova Glass My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! SUCH A GOOD WIFE by Seraphina Nova Glass was a slow-burn mystery-thriller with a surprising ending. I thought I knew who did the crime, but I was totally wrong. The author delivered well structured plot and crafted noteworthy characters. Although the story was slow, it was interesting and engaging. I would have love more around the conflict between Melanie and Valerie. I think the author had an opportunity to do more with their power struggle and bring spice to the story. Otherwise, it was a solid book and I enjoyed it. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #canadianbookishlovers #suchagoodwife #seraphinanovaglass

Review: The Wake: The Deadly Legacy of a Newfoundland Tsunami by Linden MacIntyre

The Wake: The Deadly Legacy of a Newfoundland Tsunami  by  Linden MacIntyre My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE WAKE – The Deadly Legacy of a Newfoundland Tsunami by Linden MacIntyre was a heart wrenching account of major events that took place between 1929 and today. These events defined a small community in the province of Newfoundland called St. Lawrence. I was moved by this non-fiction book, and it also gave a new appreciation for the wonderful people who live in this rugged province. If you are Canadian, I recommend that you pick up a copy and discover the stories of courage, generosity, and determination demonstrated by Newfoundlanders. You will also see the other side of the medal and discover how they were lied to, stolen from, and ultimately murdered by the mining industry greed. This was an eye opener for me and I truly appreciated learning more about these strong people and their history. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dog

Review: The Widows of Champagne by Renee Ryan

The Widows of Champagne  by  Renee Ryan My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I took a small break and spent a wonderful weekend with my girlfriends at our place on the lake. It was such a fun weekend. THE WIDOWS OF CHAMPAGNE by Renee Ryan is an extraordinary historical fiction. To start… look at that gorgeous book cover; it is absolutely perfect for this novel. The novel is beautifully written and stirs all the right emotions. It tells the story of three widows during WWII, their choices, their courage, and their losses. The characters are written perfectly and play each an important role in the story. I was captured by the intelligent and riveting plot. I cannot say enough about this book to give it all the praises it deserves. Pick up a copy today and find out by yourself how beautiful this book is. #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #boo

Review: The Guilt Trip by Sandie Jones

The Guilt Trip  by  Sandie Jones My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I truly enjoyed THE GUILT TRIP by Sandie Jones. It was astounding and jaw-dropping good. The complex relationships between the characters are well designed and carry the story to an unexpected ending. The book has a solid plot that delivers several good punches. All the characters’ secrets were over-the-top but not so far fetch. The epilogue delivered the final blow and now I am not sure if I know who did it. Well done, Ms. Jones! #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #canadianbookishlovers #theguilttrip #sandiejones #minotaurbooks #raincoastbooks #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: Mrs. Rochester's Ghost by Lindsay Marcott

Mrs. Rochester's Ghost  by  Lindsay Marcott My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! MRS. ROCHESTER’S GHOST by Lindsay Marcott is a modern retelling of Jane Eyre. The story was good but a bit too slow for my taste. I kept putting it aside and picking it up again a bit later with the hope that it would speed up. It eventually did speed up at the end. It was a good ending. Writing a retelling of a classic such as Jane Eyre is big shoes to filled. Maybe if the book had been promoted without the “retelling” aspect, I would have liked it more. It is still a decent read overall. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #canadianbookishlovers #mrsrochestersghost #lindsaymarcott #amazonbooks #thomasmerce

Review: Outrageous by Minerva Spencer

Outrageous  by  Minerva Spencer My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! OUTRAGEOUS by Minerva Spencer is the second book in the Rebels of the Ton Series. This historical romance is fun, sexy and full of excitements. This book picks up from where the first one left off, so I recommend you read the first one before this one. The characters were a bit confusing. Godric was not a likable character in Notorious and it was hard to believe that someone could change that much. Oh well!! At least, it was for the better. I enjoyed the over-the-top relationship between Eva and Godric. Their heated moments were pretty sweet. If you like sexy historical romances, this series is an entertaining one. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer

Review: Red at the Bone by Jacqueline Woodson

Red at the Bone  by  Jacqueline Woodson My rating:  2 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! RED AT THE BONE by Jacqueline Woodson is a buddy read with 19 other bookstagrammers. I opted to listen to the audiobook for this one and it was a good decision. I enjoyed the narration a lot. The story was read by different people, making it interesting and entertaining. Although I enjoyed the quality of the audio, I did not enjoy the story itself as much. Chapters jumped in time, and it always took me a moment to realise who was telling that part of the story and where in the timeline I was. I also felt that the book was unfinished. It might have not been a book for me, but it can be for you. Don’t let my review discourage you to pick it up and read it. It is very short. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread

Review: Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley

Firekeeper's Daughter  by  Angeline Boulley My rating:  5 of 5 stars Some books have a way to pull deep on the threads of your heart and leave you breathless and changed. FIREKEEPER’S DAUGHTER by Angeline Boulley is one of those books for me. The Pooches and Pages Bookclub read and discussed this book yesterday. I enjoyed our open and honest conversations. I opted to listen to this book, and I am glad I did. I would have missed on the beautiful melodious pronunciation of the Ojibwe language. I loved this book so much. It has strong characters, a solid story, and a perfect ending. My grandmother is Huron and I wish I knew more about her ancestors’ culture and traditions. I think it is time to start looking into my indigenous ancestry and discover more about them. But I regress… You need to read this book for yourself and discover a new author who brings to light wonderful indigenous traditions and who is not afraid to address the negative aspects of the native communities. 💀 Trigg
