Review: Don't Make Me Turn this Life Around by Camille Pagán

Don't Make Me Turn this Life Around  by  Camille Pagán My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! DON’T MAKE ME TURN THIS LIFE AROUND by Camille Pagán was a thought-provoking novel about dealing with major life events such as sickness, family challenges, and facing a devastating force of nature. This is the story of a woman/wife/mother who has an existential crisis. Trying to make everything better, she takes her family on a vacation to the place where she once found great happiness. The trip encounters issues after issues and everything is coming apart. This story speaks of resilience, sacrifices, and courage. The book ends on a high note which is quite satisfying. If you like books without the fluff that will make you rethink how your life is going, this is the one for you. Great read. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic

Find You First  by  Linwood Barclay My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! What a ride!!! Review: A Peculiar Combination by Ashley Weaver

A Peculiar Combination  by  Ashley Weaver My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! A PECULIAR COMBINATION by Ashley Weaver was an entertaining read with lots of action. It is the first book in the new historical mystery series entitled “Electra McDonnell”. I particularly enjoyed Electra’s wit and sass and her undeniable chemistry with Major Ramsey. The plot is well delivered and offers a lively ending. I am looking forward to seeing where Ellie and Gabriel’s partnership to fight the Germans and save Great Britain will take them. Fantastic read! #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #apeculiarcompbination #ashleyweaver #minotaurbooks #minotaurinfluencers #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: The Deep by Alma Katsu

The Deep  by  Alma Katsu My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE DEEP by Alma Katsu has been on my TBR shelf for a while and has been calling my name the past few weeks. As I am trying to read as many books on my TBR shelf as possible, I gave in and read it. I am so happy I did… what a fantastic book. Anything Titanic intrigues me. Annie worked as a stewardess on the Titanic and survived the sinking. Four years later, she becomes a nurse on the Britannic (The Titanic sister ship), now repurposed as a war hospital. The story follows Annie in both timelines and reveals what happened to her on both ships. The story is enthralling and ghostly fascinating. The plot is powerful and the characters spellbinding. The only letdown was the ending. It felt disjointed and did not give, in my opinion, a satisfying ending to the story. It is nevertheless a great book, and the story adds an eerie twist to the Titanic account. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabi

Review: The #Vanlife Murders by Taylor Cluster

The #Vanlife Murders  by  Taylor Cluster My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! Holy Moly!! THE #VANLIFE MURDERS by Taylor Cluster gave me all the heebie-jeebies. This is a story of “murders” (I am sure you guess that one from the title), but not any kind of murders… murders of Instagram influencers!!!! Do I have your attention now? I will reassure you by saying that the influencers were not bookstagrammers, but young ladies who travel alone in their cool vans. It was quite eery to read that plot. I love the way the author weaved the story and delivered a surprising jaw-dropping ending. I enjoyed it and I recommend it to all the murder mystery lovers out there. This is a fresh story with a contemporary and relevant feel. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadian

Review: The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz

The Plot  by  Jean Hanff Korelitz My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE PLOT by Jean Hanff Korelitz is a slow read with a good story. It was interesting to read about the book publication process and overall, the story plot was respectable. Unfortunately, I guessed the ending early and was disappointed not to be proven wrong. The author expressed the writer’s frustrations with publishing companies, reviewers, and anything not helping spread a positive buzz about his books. At the end of the day, the popularity of a book should not depend on external factors (although they do help) but on the content written on the pages. THE PLOT is overall a good mystery thriller and if you are lucky not to guess the ending, you will be surprised. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks

Review: Seven Perfect Things by Catherine Ryan Hyde

Seven Perfect Things  by  Catherine Ryan Hyde My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! SEVEN PERFECT THINGS by Catherine Ryan Hyde was such a lovely read. The story revolves around seven abandoned puppies, the girl who rescued them, her mother, and the man who owns the cabin where she hid them. This book has triggers such as the death of a spouse, abuse, and domestic violence. It is not the typical story where the puppies are the heroes. It is about hope, courage, and standing for oneself. The puppies are just added bonuses in this story. It is a great and quick read. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #sevenperfectthings #catherineryanhyde #amazonpublishing #lakeunionpublishing #bookreview Vi

Review: Atomic Love by Jennie Fields

Atomic Love  by  Jennie Fields My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! ATOMIC LOVE by Jeannie Fields was an entertaining mystery with a touch of thriller. I enjoyed the intelligent plot. The book did not have major twists and had a straightforward delivery. I did not like the main character much. Rosalind came across a weak woman who was not able to make up her mind. I would have liked for her to be much stronger. I was also looking forward to discovering more about her involvement in the Manhattan project, but that did not happen. The book is a good read, nonetheless. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #atomiclove #jenniefields #putnambooks #penguinrandomhouse #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: The Girl Who Died: A Novel by Ragnar Jónasson

The Girl Who Died: A Novel  by  Ragnar Jónasson My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! Happy Publication day to THE GIRL WHO DIED by Ragnar Jónasson! This is an exciting quick read! I enjoyed the mystery that kept me guessing to the end. The book is divided into two storylines that come together in the end. I was however disappointed that one of them did not have real closure. I also kept wondering what was the meaning of the key that is on the cover. If you know, please let me know. The author did an excellent job at describing the Icelandic landscapes and his characters were either lovable or not at all. I enjoyed the ending of the book and the moment I thought “Aww… this makes sense now”. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookre

Review: The Wicked Redhead by Beatriz Williams

The Wicked Redhead  by  Beatriz Williams My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE WICKED REDHEAD by Beatriz Williams is a spectacular historical novel taking place in 1924 during Prohibition and has a modern storyline happening in 1998. It picks up when The Wicked City left off. In modern days, Ella continues her search for more information on Gin while discovering that she is pregnant with her estranged husband’s child. While in the past, Gin and Anson barely made it alive to Florida where to take refuge. But this did not last long as Anson is called back to the heat of capturing rumrunners on high seas and Gin will do all she can to save him. This duology is beautifully written. It is entertaining and captivating. If you love stories about the early 20s’ or would love to know more about that era, this is for you. I recommend you read both books in order to get the full effect of this amazing duology. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogs
