Review: The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi

The Henna Artist  by  Alka Joshi My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I read many great reviews about THE HENNA ARTIST by Alka Joshi and I was afraid that they would influence my thoughts about this book. It turned out that THE HENNA ARTIST is more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Would you believe that the words in this book are so beautiful that you can almost smell the fragrant oils, taste the savoury food, see the vivid colours of the spices, and feel the softness of the sarees described in this story. You are transported in India and surrounded by all its beauty and all its shortcomings. As the author reveals Lakshmi’s life, we feel her joy, her pain, and her heartbreaks. I was sad when the book ended, and I am looking forward to reading the second book when it comes out in June. This is truly a gorgeous literary canvas that will mesmerize you. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #booki

Review: The Last Night in London by Karen White

The Last Night in London  by  Karen White My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE LAST NIGHT IN LONDON by Karen White was a delightful, exciting, and emotional read. This a beautiful story of courage, betrayal, and love. Maddie Warner comes to London to interview 99 years-old Precious Dubose. Precious was a super-model and Maddie is hoping to write an article about fashion during WWII. The story is written in two times, present and late 30’s early 40’s. We follow the lives of two fashion models, Precious Dubose and Eva Harlow, and the people they befriended. We witness their friendship, their involvement in the war, and their betrayal. I was enthralled with the beautiful writing, the interesting characters, and the surprising ending. Review: The Seat Filler by Sariah Wilson

The Seat Filler  by  Sariah Wilson My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! Happy Publication Day to THE SEAT FILLER by Sariah Wilson. The Pooches and Pages Book Club has selected to read and discuss this book in the month of May. I am sure it will be an interesting discussion. I love stories that include dogs and quirky characters. This book has both. I enjoyed the cute love story, but the ending was a bit flat for me. I would have liked more firecracker moments between Juliet and Noah. Every time the heat was on, the author extinguished it quickly, keeping this book “G” rated to the end. It is nonetheless an enjoyable, sweet, romantic, and clean love story. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile

Review: The Perfect Daughter by D.J. Palmer

The Perfect Daughter  by  D.J. Palmer My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I just finished THE PERFECT DAUGHTER by D.J. Palmer and I am still processing the surprising ending. Mr. Palmer delivers yet another fantastic thriller with complex characters and a “I did not see this coming” plot. The story is about a teenager accused of gruesomely killing her birth mother. She has no recollection of the murder even if she was found in the house covered with the victim blood. The evidence is pointing at her, but her adoptive mother will do all she can to prove her innocence. As we read, we are introduced to the different personalities. Review: A Question Mark Is Half a Heart by Sofia Lundberg

A Question Mark Is Half a Heart  by  Sofia Lundberg My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! A QUESTION MARK IS HALF A HEART by Sofia Lundberg was an emotional book about the life of a woman with a guilty secret. Elin has created a perfect life for herself, but she is risking losing it all that her past has surfaced. With the help of her daughter, Elin will face her past head-on to save what is the most precious to her. This book is beautiful, touching, and sad at times. The ending is so perfect. Review: Thirteen by Kelley Armstrong

Thirteen  by  Kelley Armstrong My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! Happy hump day! THIRTEEN by Kelley Armstrong was a perfect ending to the fantabulous Women of the Otherworld series. It was awesome to see all the characters from all the books making appearances in this non-stop action-packed story. I have to say that by the last page, I was sad that the series is over again since I thought the 12th book was the last one. The ending was somewhat left open. Who knows, maybe Ms. Armstrong will gift us with more books for this series one day. I rarely reread books, but I am planning to reread this series in the near future. I am also planning the read the spin-off series called Otherworld Stories. If you like supernatural books with lots of action, tension, and sexy scenes; this one is for you. This sexy series is geared towards adult readers. I recommend it. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookish

Review: With All My Love, I Wait by Gloria Panzera

With All My Love, I Wait  by  Gloria Panzera My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I just finished WITH ALL MY LOVE, I WAIT by Gloria Panzera and I am still processing all the emotions it evoked. This book contains a beautiful heartbreaking love story. We follow the life of Liliana, a baker in a small village in Italy. We experience her pain through her husband’s rejection, her mother’s betrayal, and the loss of the man she loved. Gloria Panzera writing is thorough and her descriptions beautiful. This would have been a 4-❤️ if the book did not contain so many spelling, grammatical, and format errors. I wish the book would be corrected and a second edition published because this is truly a wonderful read otherwise. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #can

Review: The Desolations of Devil's Acre by Ransom Riggs

The Desolations of Devil's Acre  by  Ransom Riggs My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! This is it! This is the end of the Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children Series by Ransom Riggs (Well! At least I hope it is!!). I finished reading the sixth book entitled THE Desolations OF DEVIL’S ACRE. It was a great ending to a great series. The book is filled with action, dilemmas, and courageous acts of self-sacrifice. If you have not read this series, I recommend you read the books in order. One thing I loved about this series is the used of old vintage pictures to show what is described in the story. The pictures are so unusual and strange and are perfect for these supernatural novels. “Miss Peregrine” was not conceived or composed with a young-adult audience in mind, but its central premise — about people who are “peculiar” in various ways and must struggle not only to survive but also to save the clueless rest of humanity from violent evildoers — is certainly adolescent-friendly

Review: A Town Called Solace by Mary Lawson

A Town Called Solace  by  Mary Lawson My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I received a copy of A TOWN CALLED SOLACE by Canadian author, Mary Lawson in my March Sweet Reads book box. This book was new to me but after reading the letter written by the author that came with the book, I had to start it right away. The book is written in three voices: Clara, an eight years old whose older sister is missing; Elizabeth, a seven-two years old who is dying and has a big secret; Liam, a thirty something years old who recently separated from his wife and inherited Elizabeth’s house. The three characters are linked in a most unusual way. Their stories will pull at your heart and you will nod and say: “I get it!
