Review: The Proposal

The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory My rating: 4 of 5 stars QOTD: What is your dream wedding proposal? My Review: The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory is a witty contemporary romance. Nikole is proposed by her boyfriend during a Dodgers game and the proposal is broadcasted on the baseball stadium JumboTron. Nik has been dating Fisher for only a few months and she can’t believe that he would assume that their relationship was mature enough to consider tying the knot; so she says no. This turns into a news sensation and when the stadium cameramen are about to crowd her, she is rescued by Carlos and his sister who were sitting just behind her. To show them her gratitude, Nik invites Angela and Carlos for celebratory drinks with her friends. Though she is now swearing off men, Nik finds herself attracted to Carlos and the feeling is mutual. This is such a fun read. The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory is @reesesbookclubxhellosunshine February pick. #dogsandbooks #poodles #po

Review: Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers My rating: 5 of 5 stars QOTD: If you could move to another country, where would you move and why? My Review: I have seen the movie Mary Poppins starring Julie Andrews so many times and loved it. I also saw the movie Saving Mr. Banks starring Tom Hanks which is about Walt Disney convincing P. L.Travers to give him the rights to create a movie adaptation of her book. Ms. Travers resisted a long time before granting the rights to Disney because she was afraid they were going to make a mockery of her story. After reading the first book in the Mary Poppins series, I know now why Ms. Travers was so upset about the movie adaptation. The movie and the book do not match and I can honestly say that I like the book better. This is an enthralling story of four children, their odd nanny and the magic that springs when most needed. I cannot wait to read the next book and to continue discovering this enchanting story. #dogsandbooks #poodles #pood

Review: The Perfect Girlfriend

The Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton My rating: 4 of 5 stars QsOTD: When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grow up? Did you stick to that dream? My Review: This book is currently everywhere on social media and the talk of the town. After reading it, I now understand why. My goodness gracious, what a ride this was! When I thought that the story had reached the end, there was more. If The Perfect Girlfriend does not make feel like you want to scream with frustration and anger by the time you finish it, you have a much higher tolerance than me. #dogsandbooks #poodles #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #poodletoday #poodlesandbooks #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #book #books #booklover #bookish #bookreview #bookdragon #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookaddicted #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #theperfextgirlfriend #karenhamilton #fiction #booksharks View all my reviews

One devoted modern girl + a meddlesome, traditional grandmother = a heartwarming multicultural romantic comedy about finding love where you least expect it. MY REVIEW: MY RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 This was such a charming book and a fun read. It opens a window on the world of modern arranged marriages in the Asian community. The story is entertaining, and each character adds colour to the story. I enjoy this book particularly because it takes place in Toronto and the area. I am very familiar with the different locations in the book and it makes it even more relevant to Toronto readers. If you are not from Toronto, you will discover some of the great spots in this beautiful city. This book deals with many subjects such as modern arranged marriages, pleasing family, deception, and repairing damaged relationships. Review: The Bookshop of Yesterdays

The Bookshop of Yesterdays by Amy Meyerson My rating: 3 of 5 stars QOTD: Are you attracted to books which have the word “Books” in the title? My Review: OK, I admit it! I wanted to read this book just because it has the word “Bookshop” in it. The title spoke something totally different than what I expected. This is the story of Miranda Brooks. After his death, she finds out that her uncle left her his bookshop in his will. She has been estranged with her uncle since a fight between her mother and him on her 10th birthday. She tried to reach him, but he completely disappeared from her life until she receives a package announcing that he passed on. The package is the first clue to a treasure hunt, just like the ones her uncle used to have for her when she was a child. This treasure hunt will lead her to discover that her story is not exactly as she knows it. This is a tale of painful past, forgiveness, and self-discovery. #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #book #books

BOOK PUBLICATION: Forget You Know Me by Jessica Strawser

QOTD: Do you have a best friend? How long have you been friends? 🔹Happy publication day to FORGET YOU KNOW ME by Jessica Strawser🔹 My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5 My Review: This is the story of two best friends who grow apart and whose relationship comes to a near end after a tragic incident. Liza and Molly have been friends since their teens. Liza moved away to Chicago for work and Molly is dealing with major health and financial issues. One night, as they are skyping, Liza witnesses an intruder in Molly’s home while she is attending to her children. She scares the intruder away, but once she tells her friend about it, Molly is acting like it is no big deal. Liza is worried for her friend and drives all night to Cincinnati to find out while Molly is so aloof. When Liza confronts Molly, she gets a cold reception and eventually a slammed door in her face. This book about their friendship and their separate lives. It was hard to read as there was no real common denominator between the two stories.

BOOK PUBLICATION: Watcher in the Woods by Kelley Armstrong

QOTD: What do you prefer: a walk on the beach or a walk in the woods? 🔹Happy publication day to WATCHER IN THE WOODS by Kelley Armstrong🔹 My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 My Review: This is the fourth book in the Rockton Series. Detective Casey has not had a chance to rest after solving the last crime in Rockton. She is back in Vancouver to convince her sister, an experienced doctor, to come back with her to help remove a bullet from the back of one of the inhabitants. Rockton is not a common town. Located in the Yukon wilderness, it is a refuge for people who are at risk; a bit like a witness protection program, but not for witnesses. If you have the means and the money, you can hide in Rockton. Rockton does not have a doctor and performing a complex surgery such as removing a bullet requires an expert. April accepts too quickly, but Casey does not have the time to consider why her sister is so eager to come to with her. A US Marshal finds his way to Rockton and claims that he is on the

Review: Something Read, Something Dead

Something Read, Something Dead by Eva Gates My rating: 4 of 5 stars QOTD: Have you been in a situation where someone thought you were someone else? AOTD: I often get “You look exactly like…” It seems that my face and mannerisms resemble people’s cousins, aunts, friends, etc. I wish I was unique. In my younger days, I used to be a dark red hair. I once walked into a new hair salon and the hairdresser said: “OMG, you look exactly like Rhoda Morgenstern” (a.k.a. Valerie Harper)”! I did not know who she was at the time and had watched a few Mary Tyler More Shows on YouTube to confirm the resemblance. My Review: I love this cozy mystery series by Eva Gates. This is the fifth book in the series and I am happy to report that it is as wonderful as the first four books. I enjoy the characters and their interactions. The premise of a library in a lighthouse is unique and makes this series very attractive to all book lovers. Lucy is at it again and tries (and succeeds) t
