📚 Hello Book Friends! I am sitting at my computer trying to figure out what to say about My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell. This book has been on my TBR shelf for a while and I think the reason I was not picking it up was the subject. It scared me. I cannot say I enjoyed the book because it frustrated me immensely. From the beginning to the end, I wanted to shake Vanessa and make her see where she was wrong. I think this book shook me more than I expected. This was upsetting! There is a trace of hope at the end of the book, but not enough to make me forget what I did not like about this story. My emotions towards the story might have been shaken, but I still think it is beautifully written and without a doubt, it is a writing tour de force. Because I am a mother and feared every day that my children could become victims of predators, this book raised all these fears to the surface… even if my children are adults now. My Dark Vanessa is not for the faint of hearts. Ms. Russell is talented, and I am looking forward to seeing what she will come up with next.
