Tova knows she is different than everyone else in the Svell clan. Not only is she a Truthtongue and can predict the future, she is also covered with mysterious marks which can only mean that she was born a Kyrr, a Northern clan. She does not remember leaving her clan and the Tala who found her in a half burnt boat when she was six, told her that she must have been sacrificed to their god. Tova understands that she is part of something greater than herself and when the Svell raised a cry of war, she decides to change the web of destiny.

This book has it all: love, lost, courage, deception, and an epic battle. The pace was a bit slow at first as the author reveals more and more about the characters and the plot. The last battle was epic and worth the wait. This is a stand-alone book but could have been made into a series and be very successful.
