TREAD OF ANGELS by Rebecca Roanhorse is a novella about a mining society made of a mix of angels, demons, virtues, elects and fallen. I enjoyed the idea of the book, but the story did not deliver what I expected. Two sisters, a murder, one is accused and the other is chosen to defend her… that’s a great plot. Unfortunately, the story did not hold together, and the ending was disappointing. The book has merit for its great descriptions and its interesting characters. I could see this book made into a trilogy that would offer more substance and an opportunity to expand on the relationship between Celeste and Abraxas.
