Review: A Stranger in Town (Rockton #6) by Kelley Armstrong

A cute dog with a copy of the book entitled A Stranger in Town by Kelley Armstrong

A Stranger in Town (Rockton #6)📚 Hello Book Friends! The Rockton series by Kelley Armstrong is getting better and better. A STRANGER IN TOWN offers an action-packed story about danger, betrayal, friendship, and kick-ass characters. I am so thrilled by this series and recommend it to everyone who is looking for a solid series that does not disappoint. I wish I could talk about all the scenes I love in this book, but I would give away spoilers. You must discover it on your own… I guarantee you will be gripped and stay on the edge of your seat constantly. A STRANGER IN TOWN is the sixth book in the series. Kelley has been contracted for 7 books, so it will be at least that long. Now, I cannot wait for the seventh book.

I had the pleasure to do a written interview with Kelley:

Me: The villains in the Rockton Series are often quite evil. Where do you get your inspiration for these characters?
🔸Kelley: Imagination plus a psychology degree that leaned heavily toward abnormal psych. You can see that in the books, where I can never just have a messed-up antagonist—I need to give them a backstory and speculate on their psychological issues.

Me: Did you visit Yukon to get the survey of the land for your books?
🔸Kelley: I did! I visited a few times for inspiration and ending up buying land and building a summer house. I fell in love with the place.

Me: Did you plan the entire Rockton series before you started writing the first book or do you plan one book at a time?
🔸Kelley: I usually don't plan much farther ahead than the book I'm working on. I had ideas for solutions to some of the larger problems (like the hostiles) but they evolved over the series.

Me: How long, on average, does it take you to write a book?
🔸Kelley: The first draft is a very intense process for me, and I’m writing very quickly, so it’s usually done in 3-4 months. A fast first draft means more editing, though, so I definitely can’t complete a book in 3-4 months!

Me: I love the relationship between Casey and Eric, but, as a dog lover, I was wondering if you are planning to give Storm a love interest soon?
🔸Kelley: Ha! I actually have considered that. Raoul was originally introduced as a slightly younger male for that possibility, but I think he’s more packmate than mate. There was an interested lone wolf in Alone in the Wild. So a mate—and puppies!—is a definite possibility but I don’t quite have the right answer yet.

🙋🏼‍♀️️ Thanks Kelley, for granting me an interview.

Review: Fight For Her by Liz Plum

Fight For Her  by  Liz Plum My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! FIGHT FOR HER by Liz Plum is a coming-of-age YA Romance. It is an easy-going story about a love triangle between a popular girl, a star athlete, and a bad boy. The story was interesting and had some potential. It was just a bit too juvenile for my taste and sometimes too dramatic. It is nonetheless an enjoyable love story if you put your teenager's thinking cap on. The author delivered a good story with a lovely ending. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #fightforher #lizplum #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: Waves by Ingrid Chabbert

Waves  by  Ingrid Chabbert My rating:  5 of 5 stars WAVES, written by Ingrid Chabbert and beautifully illustrated by Carole Maurel, is a deeply personal and poetic graphic novel that explores the profound journey of a young couple trying to conceive. Drawing from the author's own experience, the story delves into the emotional depths of heartbreak, resilience, and the power of hope. The use of metaphors in Waves is exceptional, creating a mesmerizing reading experience. Chabbert skillfully weaves together the themes of writing, coping, and healing, forming a profound connection between the protagonist's pain and her quest for renewal. The dreamlike illustrations by Carole Maurel add an ethereal touch to the narrative, particularly in the visual depiction of the boat and waves of paper. While the subject matter is emotionally intense, WAVES is an extraordinary work that invites readers to embrace vulnerability and contemplate the complexities of life. I highly recommend this gra
