Review: The Jake Ryan Complex by Bethany Crandell

The Jake Ryan Complex  by  Bethany Crandell My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE JAKE RYAN COMPLEX by Bethany Crandell was exactly what I needed to chase the Covid blues. This is such a sweet and heartwarming “never too late” love story. I love the main character and relate to her struggles with her mother. The book gave me a “homey” feeling. The book had a lot of references to the Sixteen Candles movie. I haven’t seen this movie, so I will have to watch it soon to find out why Jake Ryan is so special. If you are in the mood for a light and feel-good story, this book will do just that. Pick it up soon! #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #thejakeryancomplex #bethanycrandell...

Review: The Garden of Small Beginnings by Abbi Waxman

The Garden of Small Beginnings  by  Abbi Waxman My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE GARDEN OF SMALL BEGINNINGS was an emotional read full of LOL moments. I love Abbi Waxman’s candid writing style. She will make you smile, laugh, and cry in one paragraph. This book deals with the difficult topic of grieving the loss of a spouse and find a way to move on. Losing the love of your life is difficult enough but expecting that someone should be able to get back on their feet after a short period of grieving is wrong. We all grieve differently. Luckily, Lilian had a fantastic support network during the month she was in a deep depression. Her support network did not let go of her even after she was back home. They continued to support her and move her in the direction of healing even four years after she lost her husband. This book is a heartwarming story of how to cope with grief and how to find a way to move on. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinsta...

Review: The Mystery of Mrs. Christie by Marie Benedict

The Mystery of Mrs. Christie  by  Marie Benedict My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE MYSTERY OF MRS. CHRISTIE is the third book by Marie Benedict I have the pleasure to read. Ms. Benedict does not disappoint. This book was a page-turner from the beginning to the end. It is a tour de force to write a novel based on a true story and not dilute it. We might never know what really happened during the time Agatha Christie went missing, but this account rings true. If you are a fan of Agatha Christie and historical novels, you have good reasons to pick up and read this book. The story is engaging and the ending satisfying. I recommend this book. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #biblioph...

Review: The Lost Letter by Jillian Cantor

The Lost Letter  by  Jillian Cantor My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE LOST LETTER by Jillian Cantor was a moving love story set during WWII in Austria with a second timeline in the late ’80s in California. It is the story of a special letter with a unique stamp that was never mailed. It is a hunt to find out who created this unique stamp, its meaning, and why it was never mailed. Page after page, we discover the love between a young stamp maker apprentice and the stamp master’s daughter and their involvement in saving Jewish families in Austria. The writing is gorgeous, the story poignant. A must-read for historical novel lovers. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #thel...

Review: Notorious by Minerva Spencer

Notorious  by  Minerva Spencer My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I finished NOTORIOUS by Minerva Spencer in one day. I could not put it down. It is delightful, sexy, and full of tension. Review: Deep into the Dark by P.J. Tracy

Deep into the Dark  by  P.J. Tracy My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! DEEP INTO THE DARK by P.J. Tracy was an exciting read. The authors kept me on my toes to the end. There were many twists that misled me, and the ending was full of suspense and action. The characters were interesting. Each had their own trauma and deep emotional issues. I particularly like Detective Nolan and I am looking forward to discovering more about her. This is the first book in the Detective Margaret Nolan Series. Overall, the book was entertaining, and the story well delivered. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #deepintothedark #pjtracy #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: The Arctic Fury by Greer Macallister

The Arctic Fury  by  Greer Macallister My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I still have frissons after finishing THE ARCTIC FURY by Greer Macallister. This novel has all the elements of a fantastic read: remarkable characters, an outstanding plot, and a triumphant ending. The writing was so vivid that I could feel the tension, the fears, the despair, and the victory these women experienced during and after their journey to the North. I appreciate their friendship and alliances as well as their ingenuity to survive. If you like books with strong woman protagonists, this one is for you. The novel is extraordinary and will transport you to a time when women were underestimated and yet, were able to excel despite the obstacles put before them. I recommend this book. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading ...

Review: Yellow Wife by Sadeqa Johnson

Yellow Wife  by  Sadeqa Johnson My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I am still trying to process what happened in YELLOW WIFE by Sadeqa Johnson. This is one of the most moving books I have read in a while. The story rang true and was beautiful and shocking at the same time. I cannot stop thinking of what these women went through and the sacrifices they made for their children. This novel is a must-read. May we never forget that all men and women are born free and no one has the right to take their freedom away. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #yellowwife #sadeqajohnson #bookreview View all my reviews

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue  by  V.E. Schwab My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I just finished THE INVISIBLE LIFE OF ADDIE LARUE by V.E. Schwab. This book lived up to its hype. What a beautiful story. V.E. Schwab's writing is full of imageries and is a pleasure to read. The plot is clever, and the characters well developed. It is a page-turner to the end. This is my first V.E. Schwab book. If all her books are like THE INVISIBLE LIFE OF ADDIE LARUE, I am looking forward to reading them all. Review: The Hostile Hospital by Lemony Snicket

The Hostile Hospital  by  Lemony Snicket My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I just finished the eighth book in the A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket (a.k.a. Daniel Handler) entitled THE HOSTILE HOSPITAL. I loved the seventh book and was looking forward to the eighth to find out how the Baudelaire children would get out of the predicament they are in. Although the book was entertaining, the story did not deliver a satisfactory ending. It was nice to find out that one of the Baudelaire parents might have survived the fire. There is finally some hope. I have five more books to read in this series. I am not giving up until I am done. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliop...

Review: The Garden of Promises and Lies by Paula Brackston

The Garden of Promises and Lies  by  Paula Brackston My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! This will be my first review in 2021! THE GARDEN OF PROMISES AND LIES by Paula Brackston is the third book in the Found Things Series. I love this concept of someone being able to travel in time to help others through an object that belongs to the person needing help. Xanthe is discovering more and more about her gifts as a Spinner and can now bring someone with her through time. This is an interesting twist in this series and opens doors to more adventures. This time a very old wedding dress calls Xanthe to the seventeenth century where she will meet Petronella who is betrothed to Xanthe’s nemesis: Benedict Fairfax. Fairfax wants something from Xanthe and will do all he can to get it. The book ends with a nail-biting cliff-hanger. I will have to wait for the fourth book to discover how this will turn out. This series is fantastic, and I recommend you read the books to enj...
