The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The Goldfinch was not what I was expecting. First of all, I thought (for some reason) that the story was taking place in the 40s or 50s. I was taken by surprise in the first chapter when I realised that this was a modern novel. Donna Tartt's writing style is beautiful. She sometime over-describes scenes, but none-the-less she paints a beautiful story with all shades of the color spectrum.
This story is touching, unnerving and often frustrating. I loved all its ups and downs! I encourage anyone who is tempted to stop reading it, to give it a chance and let the story take its fold and bring you to conclusion.
