I would have never thought...

Last night my dear friend Patsy came over for a glass of wine and to choose the papers for a card she wanted me to do. She trusts me on the design, but always wants to choose the paper. She says that she loves to go through my stack and to see all the colours, patterns and textures. I don't mind since that is one less thing to think about when I make a card for her.

The card is for one of her co-worker's 10th anniversary with the company where they work. Her co-worker likes subdue colours, so she went for more earthly colours. I asked her to go through my own images first to see if there was anything she would like and for some very unexpected reason, she chose Abigail. Really! I was surprised! Abigail is the first digi I have created. She told me that she looks like her co-worker and that she has the same demeanor. I was pleasantly surprised since I was not sure if Abigail should stay in my online store. You never really know who will like your digis and for what reason.

We had a good laugh coming up with the sentiment. I came up with the one on the front of the card. That was easy! The inside was more difficult and we were ROFL with all kinds of suggestions:
1. I'm surprised you lasted that long.
2. You must be approaching retirement soon!
3. Are you insane?
4. Why?
5. Does it still hurt after all these year?

But after getting it all out of our systems, we decided for:
"No really.... 10 years!! You gotta be kiddin'!"

The Outlawz Tuesday Colour Challenge - Lime, Charcoal and White

This week at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge, we are going to play with Lime, Charcoal and White. The February Frolic is "Add Bling".

I have to admit that when I saw the inspiration photo (on the right), I was a bit scared. I had never used this colour combo before and I even told my fellow DT members that this would be a great challenge for me. I needed to make a card set to give as a birthday gift to my friend Zahra. I started with finding an image that I would be able to colour in this week colours and that she would love. I found this wedding shoe by Just Inklined and then my mojo kicked in. I searched through my stack to find pp that would compliment the image and a simple ribbon and black pearls to dress up the cards. Zahra loved her gift.

I hope you will join us this week at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. I am looking forward to see what you will do with this colour combination. Don't forget the frolic: "Add Bling".

Anything Goes Challenge at Guylou's Inimitability

Guylou's Inimitability is having an Anything Goes Challenge. This time the feature digitamps are Phillip and Molly. I was planning to make two cards, but then I had the brilliant idea (at least according to me! LOL) to put them together. I found a free clipart of a gift and paste it on top of the cake Molly was holding.

I hope you will join us in the Anything Goes Challenge. You have several opportunities to make your entry count:
  • You can enter any newly made project and it will count for one entry.
  • If your project includes a Guylou's Inimitability digistamp, it will count for two entries.
  • If your project includes one of the feature digistamps "Phillip" or "Molly", it will count for three entries.
No GI image, no problem. You can visit Guylou's Inimitability Store to purchase one or you can have a look for a freebie in her groups on Crafters Digital Art Center or Paper Craft Planet!

The winner will be awarded a digistamp of her or his choice from Guylou's Inimitability Store and will also be invited to be a Guest Designer on an upcoming challenge and will get another GI digistamp to make a card or project along the DT.

The challenge runs until March 3rd at 10pm. So don't wait! Get to your craft table and create!! But before you do that, go see what the other DT members and our Guest Designer, Theresa, did with Phillip and Molly on Guylou's Inimitability. What talented artists!!

Valentine treats

This year instead of giving Valentine cards to my family, friends and co-workers; I decided to make Valentine goodie bags. I bought chocolate, candies, lollipops and a fun scratch card. I wrapped everything in clear bags with different Valentine prints on them. I used my digistamp called Sundae & Heart for the tag. Using Photoshop, I created a Valentine logo which I coloured digitally and printed on white card stock. I then used my handy-dandy exacto and cut half the circle so that when I folded the tag, it would stick above it. Two staples to hold everything in place and voilà! A fun Valentine gift.

I do have to admit that the hardest part of this project was to resist eating any of the sweets! LOL!

I {{HEART}} YOU Challenge at Guylou's Inimitability

Guylou's Inimitability is having another awesome challenge. This time, your submitted project must have at least one heart. Isn't this fun? February is Heart Month. We hear how important it is to take care of ourselves and yet, many of us don't. I am guilty of not exercising enough, eating too much carbs and let stress get to me. I found an article that list five tips to keep your heart healthy. Here they are:

  1. Don't smoke or use tobacco.
  2. Exercise for 20 minutes on most days of the week.
  3. Eat a heart-healthy diet.
  4. Maintain a healthy weight.
  5. Get regular health screenings

Mark Sanchez is a total heartthrob!!!! He also has an important message.

Now, back to the card I made for Guylou's Inimitability's I {{HEART}} YOU Challenge. I used the Love Seat and Cheeky Glamour. The ribbon and gems are from the Dollarama. I added a bit of Stickles on the image. Voilà!

February Frolic at The Outlawz

This month The Outlawz Tuesday Colour Group will be frolicking as our theme for the entire month is "February Frolic". To start the month, we are challenging you to use the pretty colour combo: White, Celadon and Lavender. But wait... there is a frolic!! Your project  must have polka dots.

Here's a picture on the right to inspire you. These colours just know how to put some Spring into your Winter. I am sure you will have lots of fun creating with this colour combo.

I made this card for my friend Allison whose birthday is coming this week. The image is one of mine and is called: "Pauline". The papers are by different companies, but I could not tell which ones (I really need to keep track of that information). I made the purple roses; this is my new fun thing to do. The lace was given to me by my dear South African friend, Theresa.

I used the following Copics to colour the image:
Hair: E25, E27, E29
Face: E11, E13, E15
Lips: E04
Dress: BV00, BV01, BV04
Jar & Flowers: Y02, Y06, Y08
Leaves and Stems: YG63
Jewelery: G12

So come on down to The Outlawz Tuesday Colour Challenge and join us. I can't wait to see your projects.
