Review: The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi

The Henna Artist  by  Alka Joshi My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I read many great reviews about THE HENNA ARTIST by Alka Joshi and I was afraid that they would influence my thoughts about this book. It turned out that THE HENNA ARTIST is more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Would you believe that the words in this book are so beautiful that you can almost smell the fragrant oils, taste the savoury food, see the vivid colours of the spices, and feel the softness of the sarees described in this story. You are transported in India and surrounded by all its beauty and all its shortcomings. As the author reveals Lakshmi’s life, we feel her joy, her pain, and her heartbreaks. I was sad when the book ended, and I am looking forward to reading the second book when it comes out in June. This is truly a gorgeous literary canvas that will mesmerize you. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsa...

Review: The Last Night in London by Karen White

The Last Night in London  by  Karen White My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE LAST NIGHT IN LONDON by Karen White was a delightful, exciting, and emotional read. This a beautiful story of courage, betrayal, and love. Maddie Warner comes to London to interview 99 years-old Precious Dubose. Precious was a super-model and Maddie is hoping to write an article about fashion during WWII. The story is written in two times, present and late 30’s early 40’s. We follow the lives of two fashion models, Precious Dubose and Eva Harlow, and the people they befriended. We witness their friendship, their involvement in the war, and their betrayal. I was enthralled with the beautiful writing, the interesting characters, and the surprising ending. If you love WWII stories that offers a different perspective on the war, this one is for you. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove...

Review: The Seat Filler by Sariah Wilson

The Seat Filler  by  Sariah Wilson My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! Happy Publication Day to THE SEAT FILLER by Sariah Wilson. The Pooches and Pages Book Club has selected to read and discuss this book in the month of May. I am sure it will be an interesting discussion. I love stories that include dogs and quirky characters. This book has both. I enjoyed the cute love story, but the ending was a bit flat for me. I would have liked more firecracker moments between Juliet and Noah. Every time the heat was on, the author extinguished it quickly, keeping this book “G” rated to the end. It is nonetheless an enjoyable, sweet, romantic, and clean love story. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity...

Review: The Perfect Daughter by D.J. Palmer

The Perfect Daughter  by  D.J. Palmer My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I just finished THE PERFECT DAUGHTER by D.J. Palmer and I am still processing the surprising ending. Mr. Palmer delivers yet another fantastic thriller with complex characters and a “I did not see this coming” plot. The story is about a teenager accused of gruesomely killing her birth mother. She has no recollection of the murder even if she was found in the house covered with the victim blood.
