Blog Tour and Book Review: What Unbreakable Looks Like by Kate McLaughlin

📚 Hello Book Friend! I am so excited to be part of the blog tour for this emotionally charged novel: What Unbreakable Looks Like by Kate McLaughlin. This is Kate McLaughlin’s first novel. The writing is superb and pulls at the reader’s heartstrings. Her poignant writing makes you strongly feel for all these dysfunctional characters and you want to root for them to the end of the book. This novel is about a teenage girl who is rescued from human trafficking and her struggle to reintegrate into society and live a normal life. The story does not hide behind the bushes and can be explicit. It is an eye-opener and helped me understand better this dark world and the difficulties these young women or men face after they are rescued. In some way, this reminded me of Go Ask Alice by Beatrice Sparks but with a more positive ending. I appreciated the family and friend support angle provided in this book. This is an emotional and beautiful read. Pick up your copy today. Synopsys:   Lex was ...

Review: Lady in the Lake

Lady in the Lake by Laura Lippman My rating: 3 of 5 stars The story was good and well delivered. Most of the characters were far from being likable but that was intended by the author. The story had a noir feeling and I like that. I was not completely surprised by the end and found it a bit anticlimactic. Overall it is an enjoyable read, just don’t expect a spectacular ending. #dogsandbooks #poodles #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #poodletoday #pawsandbooks #petsandbooks #poodlesandbooks #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #book #books #booklover #bookish #bookdragon #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookaddicted #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #ladyinthelake #lauralippman #bookreview View all my reviews

QOTD: Do you have a best friend? How long have you been friends? 🔹Happy publication day to FORGET YOU KNOW ME by Jessica Strawser🔹 My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5 My Review: This is the story of two best friends who grow apart and whose relationship comes to a near end after a tragic incident. Liza and Molly have been friends since their teens. Liza moved away to Chicago for work and Molly is dealing with major health and financial issues. One night, as they are skyping, Liza witnesses an intruder in Molly’s home while she is attending to her children. She scares the intruder away, but once she tells her friend about it, Molly is acting like it is no big deal. Liza is worried for her friend and drives all night to Cincinnati to find out while Molly is so aloof. When Liza confronts Molly, she gets a cold reception and eventually a slammed door in her face. This book about their friendship and their separate lives. It was hard to read as there was no real common denominator between the two stories....

Detective Casey has not had a chance to rest after solving the last crime in Rockton. She is back in Vancouver to convince her sister, an experienced doctor, to come back with her to help remove a bullet from the back of one of the inhabitants. Rockton is not a common town. BOOK PUBLICATION DAY: Looker by Laura Sims

QOTD: If you do not like a book do you quit reading it or persevere to the end? HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY to LOOKER by Laura Sims My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5 My Review: This book has such a pretty cover. The story is written in the voice of an unnamed woman who has experienced major traumatic events in her life. After several failed IVFs, her husband walks out and leaves her with his cat. The story takes you on this woman’s ups and downs as she is facing the loneliness of separation, fighting to keep the cat, and seeing her teaching career coming to an end. While all this is happening, you also discover that she is obsessed with a movie star who is living on her street. She is so taken by this actress that she is willing to do what it takes to get close to her. A lot of the dialogue is in her head and paints a pretty insane picture. The story did not grab me, and I decided to give a generous 3 stars only because it was short, and the writing was good. I want to thank Simon and Schuster for the adva...
