Review: The Spice Master at Bistro Exotique by Samantha Verant

The Spice Master at Bistro Exotique  by  Samantha Verant My rating:  3 of 5 stars THE SPICE MASTER AT BISTRO EXOTIQUE by Samantha Vérant was a sweet rom-com with many savoury moments. It is the story of Kate, a chef, who wants to open a bistro in Paris. She will face many obstacles and might find love along the way. The story is full of delicious food references that will make you hungry. I wish the story would have been as spicy as all the wonderful dishes mentioned in it. The chemistry between Kate and Charles was hot but the author left the spicey moments to the imagination of the reader. This "enemies to lovers" romance was, nonetheless, a delicious read. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibli...

Review: The Partner Track by Helen Wan

The Partner Track  by  Helen Wan My rating:  4 of 5 stars I received a surprise copy of THE PARTNER TRACK by Helen Wan a while back and did not realise that it had been made into a Netflix series. While my husband was selecting something on Netflix, I saw the preview for it. It looks good. It is my habit to read a book before I see the movie or TV adaptation, so, this gave me incentives to bump this book up my TBR list. I do not regret it. This is such a fantastic story of determination amid struggles and prejudice. I love Ingrid's character so much and related to her desire to please everyone. I also love that the romance aspect of the book was not what you would have expected and that was a welcomed surprise. If this book is not on your TBR list yet, I recommend it! #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #reade...

Review: ;The Secret Society of Salzburg by Renee Ryan

The Secret Society of Salzburg  by  Renee Ryan My rating:  5 of 5 stars THE SECRET SOCIETY OF SALZBURG by Renee Ryan is a fantastic WWII historical novel about an Austrian opera singer and a British artist who unite their efforts to save Jewish people escape to England. Ms. Ryan delivers a nail-biting plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The friendship story between Elsa and Hattie is beautiful and heartfelt. The ending is triumphant! A must-read for those who enjoyed strong female protagonist during war time. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #thesecretsocietyofsalzburg #reneeryan #lovedinspired #harlequinbooks #historicalfiction #wartimefiction #bookreview View all my reviews ...

Review: Christmas at the Island Hotel by Jenny Colgan

Christmas at the Island Hotel  by  Jenny Colgan My rating:  4 of 5 stars CHRISTMAS AT THE ISLAND HOTEL by Jenny Colgan is my last Christmas read for this year and it is a good one. I enjoyed the well-developed characters and the story settings. Add a prince and a massive angel decoration and this book becomes quite interesting. This is the fourth book in the Mure Series. I would love to read the other books and discover more about these wonderful characters. This book can be read as a stand-alone and it is a feel-good Christmas story not to be missed. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #christmasattheislandhotel #christmasbooks #jennycolgan #williammorrow #bookreview View all my reviews...

Review: Evil Thing: The Graphic Novel: A Villains Graphic Novel by Serena Valentino

Evil Thing: The Graphic Novel: A Villains Graphic Novel  by  Serena Valentino My rating:  5 of 5 stars EVIL THING by Serena Valentino and illustrated by Arielle Jovellanos was an awesome read. I love to discover more about Cruella and how she became that horrendous villain. Who in their right mind would want to turn dalmatian puppies into fur coats. Only Cruella De Vil…. If she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will! This was entertaining and yet quite sad at times. This book is part of the Villains Graphic Novel series. I am going to get more to discover more villains and how they became so evil. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #evilthing #serenavalentino #ariellejovellanos #disneyhyp...

Review: The Lindbergh Nanny by Mariah Fredericks

The Lindbergh Nanny  by  Mariah Fredericks My rating:  4 of 5 stars I love books based on true events. I was so happy to get a copy of THE LINDBERGH NANNY by Mariah Fredericks and discovered a bit more about the events surrounding the kidnapping of Charles Lindbergh, Jr., the 20 months old son of aviators Charles Lindbergh and Anne Morrow Lindbergh. This historical event did not have a happy ending as the body of the was discovered by a truck driver by the side of a nearby road, two months after his kidnapping. The book is told in the perspective of Betty Gow, a young woman who was hired as a nanny to the young Lindbergh. Betty was a suspect but demonstrated her innocence during the trial, which was referred as one of the "trials of the century" by the Legal scholars of that time. The writing is intelligent and engaging. The characters were well defined. I enjoyed this novel tremendously. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram ...

Review: Two Wrongs Make a Right by Chloe Liese

Two Wrongs Make a Right  by  Chloe Liese My rating:  4 of 5 stars I really enjoyed reading TWO WRONGS MAKE A RIGHT by Chloe Liese. This enemies to lovers and fake dating story is well-written and fun to read. I love the main characters’ quirks and the chemistry between them was hot. The sex scenes were sizzling. The book also has very real and honest moments about abusive relationships. Overall, this was a smart, entertaining, emotional read. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #twowrongsmakearight #chloeliese #berkleyromance #romancenovel #neurodivergentbooks #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: The Corgi and the Queen by Caroline L. Perry

The Corgi and the Queen  by  Caroline L. Perry My rating:  5 of 5 stars THE CORGI AND THE QUEEN by Caroline L. Perry and illustrated by Lydia Corry is cuteness overdose!!! I love this book so much! It is a wonderful account of how Queen Elizabeth II started her love affair with Corgis. I love how the author walks us through her life story and recounts all the fun moments with her Corgis named Susan. The family trees, one for Elizabeth and one for Susan, are a fantastic addition to this book. If you are looking for a unique book for your child or someone else’s child, this is it! I recommend it! They will love this beautifully illustrated story of a queen and her corgi. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookstagrammer #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #th...

Review: So, This Is Christmas by Tracy Andreen

So, This Is Christmas  by  Tracy Andreen My rating:  4 of 5 stars I needed a pick-me-up read and selected SO, THIS IS CHRISTMAS by Tracy Andreen. It was perfect! I love a Christmas in a small-town concept and the characters are so cute! It is a fast read and a good one. It has just the right amount of drama and a lot of feel-good moments. Review: Five Survive by Holly Jackson

Five Survive  by  Holly Jackson My rating:  5 of 5 stars What a ride!! FIVE SURVIVE by Holly Jackson is a fast-paced read, full of surprising secrets, and it kept me on the edge of my seat till the end. The plot is well written, and the ending is mind blowing. This is my new favourite by this author. The characters are awesome, and each played their part in making this book entertaining and intriguing. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #fivesurvive #hollyjackson #delacortepress #penguincanada #YAthriller #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss

The Twelve Dates of Christmas  by  Jenny Bayliss My rating:  4 of 5 stars I enjoyed the lightness of the story although some parts were serious and emotional. The concept of going on twelve dates with the hope to find your soulmate is fun and bound for disaster. I liked Kate; she felt real and genuine. Her hopes to find mister right were high but she was not delusional about it. I knew that there was something fishy about one of Kate’s dates. He got what he merited in the end. The book concluded with a good end, but I wish there would have been an epilogue to let us know what is next for Kate and Matt. Overall, this is a good Christmas read! #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #thetwelvedatesofc...

Review: The Wilderwomen by Ruth Emmie Lang

The Wilderwomen  by  Ruth Emmie Lang My rating:  4 of 5 stars I just finished THE WILDERWOMEN by Ruth Emmie Lang and I am still processing this novel. It is a beautiful story of sisters determined to find their lost mother. It is also a magical story of forgiveness and reconciliation. I was invested in this book from the start. The characters are well-written, and the story is very emotional. I love the beautiful ending. I am looking forward to reading this author again. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookstagrammer #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #thewilderwomen #ruthemmielang #stmartinspress #yanovel #fantasynovel #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: Klaus: How Santa Claus Began by Grant Morrison

Klaus: How Santa Claus Began  by  Grant Morrison My rating:  5 of 5 stars This is a jaw-dropping gorgeous graphic novel. One of the best illustrated books I have seen. The story is captivating and has quite a violent side for a story about how Santa Claus began. I loved that!!! The details in the illustrations are fascinating. This book just blew my mind away. I think I am in love with Klaus! LOL!! I can’t wait to read the second book in the series. And since it is the season, do yourself a favour and get a copy of this graphic novel. Review: Saint by Adrienne Young

Saint  by  Adrienne Young My rating:  5 of 5 stars I received an audio copy of SAINT by Adrienne Young for review. This book is a prequel to Fable and Namesake and is about Fable’s father, Saint, and how he met her mother, Isolde, and how he became a legendary trader. I love this story so much. It brought more details to Fable’s family background. I love the characters, the struggles, the complex relationships, and the love story. If you have read Fable and Namesake, this one is a must read. It is my fav in the series. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #booklover #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #saintbook #adrienneyoung #macmillanaudio #netgalley #YAnovels #fantasynovels #piratenovels #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: Beyond That, the Sea by Laura Spence-Ash

Beyond That, the Sea  by  Laura Spence-Ash My rating:  4 of 5 stars I’m excited to be part of @celadonbooks new Read Together Initiative for BEYOND THAT, THE SEA by @laura_spence_ash. I read this book along with my new IG friend, Carrie (a.k.a. @mamacappsreads). It was awesome to discuss the book and discover that we had different views on some of the characters. One thing for sure, we both loved Gerard. I loved the character of William. I guess I related to him and his frustration. I was rooting for him and Bea. I love this novel for many reasons. One of them is the author’s ability to describe the scenery and the mood of the characters. I was transported to the island in Maine and sat in the Gregorys’ kitchen while I was reading. I felt William’s frustration, Gerard’s passion, and Millie’s sadness. The story is moving and at times very sad. It is a beautiful book, and you should pick up a copy when it comes out in March. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofins...

Review: Namesake by Adrienne Young

Namesake  by  Adrienne Young My rating:  5 of 5 stars NAMESAKE by Adrienne Young has been calling my name for a while and I finally decided to pick it up after being approved for an audio version of SAINT. I loved FABLE and I was afraid that the second book would disappoint. Well, I was 100% wrong. NAMESAKE was better than the first book. What a story… and let's not forget the characters!!! Just wow!! I could not put this one down. If you have not read this series yet, what are you waiting for? Review: Set on You by Amy Lea

Set on You  by  Amy Lea My rating:  4 of 5 stars I loved the positive message of body respect and self-acceptance found in SET ON YOU by Amy Lea. I struggled with my weight for a very long time, and I related to Crystal. I am glad that the author put an emphasis on a heroine who has a healthy lifestyle but is not fitting in the skinny woman category. I wish she would have done the same for Scott. He is not the norm; he is the exception. Not all men have eight pack abs and flowy hair. I love how he supported Crystal and his awful pick up jokes. I also loved their relationship and how they found love. Review: The Last Party by Clare Mackintosh

The Last Party  by  Clare Mackintosh My rating:  4 of 5 stars THE LAST PARTY by Clare Mackintosh is a great start to the DC Morgan Series. This mystery is straightforward but has a multitude of suspects. As you read, you quickly realise that they all have reason to have killed Rhys Lloyd and you are not done discovering until you read the last page. I made a little board to keep track of the suspects, their relationship to the victim and their motives to kill him. Even with all my organised sleuthing, I was not able to guess correctly who killed him. Well done, Ms. Mackintosh! Review: A Mrs. Miracle Christmas by Debbie Macomber

A Mrs. Miracle Christmas  by  Debbie Macomber My rating:  3 of 5 stars A MRS. MIRACLE CHRISTMAS by Debbie Macomber is a lovely Christmas story. I enjoyed the character of Mrs. Miracle and her angelic ways. Although the story is about faith and hope; I found it sad. The theme of failed adoption and a grandparent dealing with dementia were difficult for me. This is the 11th book in the Angelic Intervention Series but the first one I read and most likely the last. I am not a fan of highly religious books. I might have not been in the right mindset to read a book like this one. I was hoping for more Christmas cheers. It is a good read, nonetheless. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #amrsmir...

Review: Goodbye, Mr. Chips by James Hilton

Goodbye, Mr. Chips  by  James Hilton My rating:  5 of 5 stars One of my earliest memories about my dad is watching the movie “GOODBYE, MR. CHIPS” with him. My dad was a fan of English singer, actress, and composer, Petula Clark. Ms. Clark recorded music in English, French, Spanish, German, and Italian. My dad used to play her French record all the time and his favourite song was “Tout le monde veut aller au ciel mais personne ne veut mourrir” (Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven But Nobody Wants To Die). Ms. Clark played Mr. Chipping’s wife in that movie. I remember how touching the movie was and have been wanting to read the book by the same name, written by James Hilton, that inspired the movie. I ordered the book a few months ago and was surprised that it is less than one hundred pages long. It did not take me long to read it, and I enjoyed every page. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlif...

Review: The Villa by Rachel Hawkins

The Villa  by  Rachel Hawkins My rating:  4 of 5 stars It was a pleasure to be part of the Tandem Listen-Along for THE VILLA by Rachel Hawkins. This book is well written, and the plot was intelligent and engaging. I love the characters and their uniqueness. As I listened to the book, I thought the book would end a certain way and Ms. Hawkins succeeded to surprise me with two mind-blowing ending twists.
