SHADOW SISTER by Lindsay Marcott is one of the creepiest books I have ever read. I was scared, grossed out, and came back for more. It felt like I was behind curtains, witnessing the most unnerving and disturbing show. The book has a ghost, a spooky haunted house, a strange family, and an even stranger stalker. I get scared easily and usually stay away from frightening books. I knew I was in for a haunted ride from the start of the book. I was scared and creeped out, but I have no regrets. A Rip Through Time  by  Kelley Armstrong My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! A RIP THROUGH TIME by Kelley Armstrong is the first book in the series by the same name. I was hooked from the start. I love the travel in time genre and love learning more about the Victorian era. The mystery was exciting and engaging. The ending was open and curious enough to make me want to read the next book. I am looking forward to finding out what will happen to Detective Mallory and if she will get back to the future in time to say goodbye to her dying grandmother. I am also looking forward to seeing where her relationship with Dr. Gray will go. Hester  by  Laurie Lico Albanese My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 We made it to Friday, Book Friends! HESTER by Laurie Lico Albanese is a deep emotional and mesmerizing tale of love and freedom. I love the idea of a book about the woman who could have inspired Nathaniel Hawthorne’s main character in the Scarlet Letter. The story of Isobel was beautiful, raw, and moving. I also love that the author explored the subject of synesthesia which was perceived as witchcraft in those times. The stories of Isobel’s ancestors were not as attractive as her own, but I appreciate that the author wanted to set Isobel’s alleged witchcraft ancestry. The writing is wonderful, and the descriptions of Isobel’s needlework are beautifully detailed. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Stephanie Racine. Ms. Feeney had me hooked from the start and the surprising ending was really good. Did you see that twist coming!!! I was, however, bothered by some scenes where some members of the family would interact with Daisy when they should have not been able to. I won’t say more because I will spoil it for you. Heartstopper: Volume Four  by  Alice Oseman My rating:  4 of 5 stars This volume was difficult to read. The handling of Charlie’s eating disorder felt like a page filler. The fact that only Nick noticed that Charlie was not eating is a bit far fetch. I wish the author would have explore Charlie’s cutting more. It was almost mentioned in passing and could have been the reason why Charlie sought psychological help.
