Review: The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren

The Soulmate Equation  by  Christina Lauren My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! SOULMATE EQUATION by Christina Lauren is a super cute read. I love the flawed characters and fun plot. This was a quick read, and I enjoyed every page. I feel that this book is a prediction of how finding your soulmate will be done in the near future. Great summer reading! I recommend it. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #soulmateequation #christinalauren #hachettebooks #piatkusbooks #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: Cinder-Nanny by Sariah Wilson

Cinder-Nanny  by  Sariah Wilson My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! CINDER-NANNY is a cute contemporary love story and retelling of the Cinderella story. The plot was full of the usual ups and downs associated with a budding romance. The characters were well written but lacked depth. It took me a while to finish the book because the story felt déjà-vu and did not have the heated connection I love between the main characters. It was an enjoyable read none-the-less and the ending was good. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #cindernanny #sariahwilson #amazonpublishing #montlake #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: Our Crooked Hearts by Melissa Albert

Our Crooked Hearts  by  Melissa Albert My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! OUR CROOKED HEARTS by Melissa Albert has some of the darkness I enjoyed in The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeko. The story was good but slow at times and I had to read the ending three times to understand what happened. I kept thinking that there were pages missing in my book because it ended so abruptly. Maybe it was done by design to leave an opportunity to write a sequel. I wanted so much more of this story, and I think it is because I keep looking for books that would give me all the feels I got when I read The Bone Witch. That was my first book by Ms. Albert, and I enjoyed her writing style. I will have to check her Hazel Wood series. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadi...

Review: Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

Wuthering Heights  by  Emily Brontë My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I selected WUTHERING HEIGHTS by Emily Brontë for the #PawsAndReadathon2022 hosted by @paws.and.read. The prompt for June is “Read a book with a villain” and this book came up in my google search for books with a villain protagonist. After reading the book I am not sure I would classify Heathcliff as a villain… the word sociopath comes to mind. Some people described him as a romantic hero due to his undying love for Catherine (Cathy) (the jury is out on that one). In my opinion, he is nothing more than a man driven by revenge; a villainous character seeking to gain control by manipulating those around him. Not to mention that he beats the hell out of the other characters. So, is Heathcliff a villain? Yes, he is, in a sociopath way. The other characters were not much better, all of them had a selfish agenda. Despite all the villainy in this book, I enjoyed it a lot. Great classic! #bookstado...

Review: The Messy Lives of Book People by Phaedra Patrick

The Messy Lives of Book People  by  Phaedra Patrick My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE MESSY LIVES OF BOOK PEOPLE by Phaedra Patrick is every aspiring writer’s dream. Could you imagine being asked by your favourite author to finish their latest book after his or her death? This is what happened to Liv Green in this book. The story has many easter eggs and Liv will discover that there is much more to Essie Starling than she thought. This book is beautifully written and will bring you on a literary adventure that will stay with you. If you have a book in your heart and never had an opportunity to write it, you should read this book. It might be the inspiration you needed. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookre...

Review: The Wicked Widow by Beatriz Williams

The Wicked Widow  by  Beatriz Williams My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE WICKED WIDOW by Beatriz Williams is the third book in the Wicked City Series. Again, the story is filled with action, betrayals, and love. I love the dual timeline and the link between the main characters. I also love the imperfect characters and their attempts at finding love and happiness. I loved the ending, but it felt open for another book (there is no mention of it on Goodreads). If you love books set in the prohibition and speak-easy area with lots of action, I recommend this series. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #thewickedwidow #beatrizwilliams #williammorrowbooks #harpercollinsca #boo...

Review: The Donut Trap by Julie Tieu

The Donut Trap  by  Julie Tieu My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Happy Saturday Book Friends! I missed the opportunity to celebrate #AANHPIHeritageMonth. I had THE DONUT TRAP by Julie Tieu on my TBR shelves but noticed it too late to read it in May. Better late than never. I enjoyed this adorable romcom about a young woman who is still trying to find out what she wants to do with her life while she works in her parent’s donut shop. I enjoyed the way Jasmine and Alex connected and eventually fell in love. It was a cute read. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #thedonuttrap #julietieu #avonbooks #booksofhcc #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: The Physicists’ Daughter by Mary Anna Evans

The Physicists’ Daughter  by  Mary Anna Evans My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE PHYSICISTS’ DAUGHTER by Mary Anna Evans was an exciting read with all the right punches. I love the historical aspect of women working in manufactures while men are at the front. Women were underestimated and proved themselves to be as strong and clever as any men. That was the surprise of the time. The story is well constructed, and the characters were quite interesting. I loved the plot and the ending was open enough to let the reader think that it might not be the last time we will see Justine (wishful thinking on my part, anyway). This is a great mystery. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophi...

Review: Page by Paige by Laura Lee Gulledge

Page by Paige  by  Laura Lee Gulledge My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! PAGE BY PAIGE by Laura Lee Gulledge is such a fantastic graphic novel. I love the illustration and the story about a teenager who has insecurities and surmount them by expressing herself through her drawings. The story is corny at times, but it has a “feel real” quality to it as well. I love her group of friends and how they encourage her to be an artist. Many teenagers face similar mental health issues and do not find an outlet to help them. I love the positivity of the story and recommend it. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #pagebypaige #lauraleegulledge #amuletbooks #abramsbooks #bookreview View ...

Review: Speak: The Graphic Novel by Laurie Halse Anderson

Speak: The Graphic Novel  by  Laurie Halse Anderson My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! SPEAK: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL written by Laurie Helse Anderson and illustrated by Emily Carroll is a powerful heartbreaking read. The painful silent story of Melinda was tragic. The way her peers treated her was unfair and plain mean. At the beginning of the book, the author mentioned that her novel was banned in some high school. Why??? Sadly, this is not a unique story and young teenagers could find help through a story like this one. I am not saying that this book is a solution to help rape victims, but it is part of the solution. It is important to educate young women that “no means no” and that reporting a sexual assault is the right thing to do. It is also important to educate teenagers to recognize the signs that say that someone is suffering in silence to support them and not reject them. This is a must read. Speak comes as a full novel or as a graphic novel. The graphic...

Review: The Latecomer by Jean Hanff Korelitz

The Latecomer  by  Jean Hanff Korelitz My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE LATECOMER by Jean Hanff Korelitz is the type of book that you have to read to the end to appreciate how good the story is. The Oppenheimer family members are dysfunctional and do not know how to love one another. Through a series of events, they will be fractured and through a common denominator they will be mended. You have to be patient with this book… read it to the end and you will not regret it. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #thelatecomers #jeanhanggkorelitz #celadonbooks #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: The Tsarina's Daughter by Ellen Alpsten

The Tsarina's Daughter  by  Ellen Alpsten My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE TSARINA'S DAUGHTER by Ellen Alpsten is a well written account of the life of Elizabeth Petrovna, daughter of Catherine I and Peter the Great. The account is filled with sorrow, love, and a constant fight to survive. The story is well documented and can be a bit overwhelming at times with the large cast of characters. I enjoyed the book nonetheless and recommend it to those who would like to know more about this fascinating historical character. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #thetsarinasdaughter #ellenslpsten #stmartinspress #bookreview View all my reviews
