Review: The Ghosts of Paris by Tara Moss

The Ghosts of Paris  by  Tara Moss My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE GHOSTS OF PARIS is the second book in the Billie Walker Mystery Series by Tara Moss. In this book we discover more about Australian P.I. Billie Walker and her assistant Samuel Baker. They are hired to find a woman’s missing husband who was last seen in Paris. Going back to Europe will not be easy for Billie as she too lost her husband; presumably killed in the Warsaw Uprising of 1943. But was he? When Billie meets an old friend, she is told that he might be in Paris… alive. Now she must solve two mysteries while being targeted by Nazi sympathizers because of an incident that happened in the first book. This story is full of action, romance, and heartbreaks. The post WWII setting is awesome and offers the readers a view of the post war recovery. This series is marvelous, and I recommend you read the first book before this one, although it can be read as a stand alone too. #bookstadog #po...

Review: The Woman in the Library by Sulari Gentill

The Woman in the Library  by  Sulari Gentill My rating:  2 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE WOMAN IN THE LIBRARY by Sulari Gentill synopsis had me at “four strangers, a library, a murder”. I enjoyed the great cast of characters and the "who done it" twist. I was however confused at the beginning of the story because I did not see that this was a story within a story. After the first 50 pages, I put the book down. Since I rarely “do not” finish a book, I waited two days and picked it up again to finish it. The story made sense after that, but it failed to deliver the game of Clue feel I was expecting. The ending was too open and left me with a lot of questions. You might like it better than I did and that’s ok since no one read the same book the same way. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinsta...

Review: Breaking Point by Alex Flinn

Breaking Point  by  Alex Flinn My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! BREAKING POINT by Alex Flinn was a difficult read about an angst teenager who is willing to do the unthinkable to gain the friendship of a popular boy at his new school. The story is well written and leads the reader on a journey of trouble, anger, and destruction. This book has a Columbine feel and will make you realise how fragile is the mental health of a teenager when it is manipulated by peer pressure and the desire to fit in. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #breakingpoint #alexflinn #harperteen #harpercollinsca #booksofhcc #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: Every Summer After by Carley Fortune

Every Summer After  by  Carley Fortune My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! OMG!!! EVERY SUMMER AFTER by Carley Fortune knocked me off my feet. This is such a good book. First, this wonderful story was created by a Canadian author about Canadian characters in a Canadian setting. Second, the story is so beautiful and well written. I read it in one sitting. Third, the ending is just perfect and brought closure to this extraordinary story. I am so glad I read this book. It is the right mix of drama, love, and happiness. Please do yourself a favour and pick up a copy; not because it is Canadian (you know I am biased when it comes to Canada) but because it is a perfect love story that will melt your heart. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #c...

Review: Dreaming of Flight by Catherine Ryan Hyde

Dreaming of Flight  by  Catherine Ryan Hyde My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I am a huge fan of Catherine Ryan Hyde’s writing. Her books are simply beautiful and full of emotions. DREAMING OF FLIGHT is no exception. The friendship between an 11-year-old Stewart Little (being named like the mouse plays a big part in the story) and elderly woman named Marilyn is heartwarming and poignant. Stewie’s willingness to help Marilyn is sensational. His love for his hens is remarkable. The ending is sad and sweet at the same time, and you are left with a smile on your lips. If you love feel-good stories about intergenerational relationships, I encourage you to pick up a copy of this book. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #...

Review: Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

Lessons in Chemistry  by  Bonnie Garmus My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY by Bonnie Garmus lived up to its IG hype. I love the characters and the story. I love the strong woman message and the positivity of this book. As I was reading the book, I came to expect a direction and the author often surprised me with a different plot. Some scenes were difficult to read and can be a trigger for some readers. After reading this book, I want to be Elizabeth Zott when I grow up. Her personality, her intelligence and her wit are awesome. I also adore her brilliant dog, Six-Thirty. This is definitely one of my favourite reads this year so far. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity...

Skandar and the Unicorn Thief  by  A.F. Steadman My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! SKANDAR AND THE UNICORN THIEF by A.F. Steadman lived up to the hype! It is an exciting and well written book. It is a great start to this new series. The characters are fun and nicely developed. The story comes with lots of action and a twist that will pull to your heart. I love the bond between humans and elements yielding unicorns; can’t go wrong with that. This is a middle-grade book but can be read by anyone who loves action-fantasy. Review: Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez

Part of Your World  by  Abby Jimenez My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! PART OF YOUR WORLD by Abby Jimenez was a read with all the right feels. I enjoyed the chemistry between Alexis and Daniel. I also enjoyed that for once the relationship is between an older female character and a younger male character. Age should never matter but it is sad that society frowns upon such a relationship but have no issue with an older man dating a younger woman. Shame on society!! I felt that Alexis’ dilemma was true to life for her situation, and I am glad she made the right decisions in the end. This is a fantastic read; please get a copy of this book if you have not done so already. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookrevie...

Review: Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Book Lovers  by  Emily Henry My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I devoured BOOK LOVERS by Emily Henry like a starving librarian. I did not realise how much I needed a book like this one in my life and how romcom deprived I was. I loved the story, the premises, and the fantastic cast of characters. The chemistry between Nora and Charlie is insane. In my opinion, we all need a Charlie in our lives. A man who builds you up and offers you a shoulder to cry into when you need one. I am glad my husband is one of those wonderful men. But back to the book… The story ending was perfect and dreamy. Pick up a copy today, you will not regret it. Review: Last Dance on the Starlight Pier by Sarah Bird

Last Dance on the Starlight Pier  by  Sarah Bird My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! LAST DANCE ON THE STARLIGHT PIER by Sarah Bird is a beautiful book about a young woman’s search for happiness during the hard time of the Great Depression. The story deals with the poverty, the dance marathons, the corruption, the prohibition, and the treatment of homosexual that took place in those times. As I was reading the book, it reminded me of the 1969 American psychological drama film “They Shoot Horses, Don't They?” directed by Sydney Pollack based on Horace McCoy's 1935 novel of the same name. It starred a young Jane Fonda and Michael Sarrazin. It is a great movie about dance marathons of the 30s’. I love the movie and I think this is why I loved this book. Pick up a copy today. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic...

Review: The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn

The Diamond Eye  by  Kate Quinn My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! Let me start this review by saying that I am a huge Kate Quinn fan. The research she does for each of her books helps deliver outstanding and interesting reads about true-to-life characters. THE DIAMOND EYE is a great example of the extent she went to research the obscure and unknown WWII Russian sniper, Mila Pavlichenko. Unfortunately, I did not like this young Russian war hero story. It was repetitive, slow, and felt incomplete (especially the part about who was the marksman). It took me two weeks to finish the book and it was a laborious process. This is not the last book I will read from this author. I might have not liked this one, but I know that Ms. Quinn can deliver exceptional books and I am looking forward to seeing where she will take us next. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #boo...

Review: An Unthinkable Thing by Nicole Lundrigan

An Unthinkable Thing  by  Nicole Lundrigan My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I am still processing and analysing AN UNTHINKABLE THING by Nicole Lundrigan hours after I finished it. This read was mind-blowing in a great way. The way the story is told is interesting and engaging. It has been a while since a book has stunned me with a twist that is surprising and jaw dropping. This book is filled with unlikable characters and yet it is exactly what is needed to deliver that unexpected ending. If you love well written psychological mysteries, this is one to add to your TBR list. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #anunthinkablething #nicolelundrigan #penguincanada #vikingbooks ...

Review: American Royals by Katharine McGee

American Royals  by  Katharine McGee My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! AMERICAN ROYALS by Katharine McGee was surprisingly good. I enjoyed the tension and drama between all the characters. This alternate history where America has a king instead of a President was well thought of and felt realistic. I am looking forward to reading the second book in the series and seeing where the story goes. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #americanroyals #katharinemcgee #penguinrandomhouse #penguinrandomca #bookreview View all my reviews
