Review: The Perfect Ruin by Shanora Williams

The Perfect Ruin  by  Shanora Williams My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE PERFECT RUIN by Shanora Williams blew my mind!!! What an awesome book. The build-up to the grand mystery reveal was engaging but a bit slow for me. As I read the book, I forged an idea on how it would end, I was wrong. I did not see this ending coming. This book offers an intelligent plot full of smoke and mirrors. I recommend it! #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #canadianbookishlovers #theperfectruin #shanorawilliams #kensingtonbooks #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: The Masterpiece by Fiona Davis

The Masterpiece  by  Fiona Davis My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE MASTERPIECE by Fiona Davis was everything I was hoping for. Great writing! Great plot! Great mixture of true historical facts! Ms. Davis delivers a story with an artistic flavour while shining a spotlight on women’s challenges to be recognised as much as men are. This book follows two women in two timelines: an illustrator in the late 20s’ and a divorce in the mid 70’s. They are linked by a watercolour painting that changed both their lives. I recommend this beautiful book. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #canadianbookishlovers #duttonbooks #themasterpiecebook #fionadavis #bookreview View all my revi...

Review: Real Friends by Shannon Hale

Real Friends  by  Shannon Hale My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! REAL FRIENDS by Shannon Hale and LeUyen Pham was a cute book about the difficulties to make and hold friends. It follows Shannon through all her attempts to make friends from kindergarten to 5th grade. The book is about the anxiety of being an outcast and the halation when you are part of a group of friends. The illustrations are well done and the short stories interesting. This is the first book in this series. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #canadianbookishlovers #realfriends #shannonhale #leuyenpham #firstsecond #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: The Aviatrix by Violet Marsh

The Aviatrix  by  Violet Marsh My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I love reading books about strong female protagonists. THE AVIATRIX by Violet Marsh offers a fantastic group of female dare-devils, ahead of their times. When her father’s flight school is at risk of defaulting on a loan payment and close, Matti joins a female-dominated flying circus where she demonstrates her phenomenal skills at flying. Her long-time friend, Leo joins as well, and they both discover that their friendship might be something more. The book is filled with acrobatics and dangerous stunts. The cast is made of strong-willed women who are not afraid to show that they can do as well or more than any man. It is also a love story that will melt your heart. The story takes place post WWI in America. This is a light and enjoyable read. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #...

Review: Mata Hari's Last Dance by Michelle Moran

Mata Hari's Last Dance  by  Michelle Moran My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! MATA HARI’S LAST DANCE by Michelle Moran has been on my TBR shelf for a little while and I just could no longer resist picking it up. I have read several books on this extraordinary historical femme fatale, and I was looking forward to finding out how Ms. Moran would describe her life and actions. I was not disappointed and actually like her take on Margaretha Geertruida MacLeod’s (née Zelle) life and how she became Mata Hari. If you would like to discover more about this Dutch exotic dancer and courtesan who was convicted of being a spy for Germany during World War I, this book is a great start. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookrev...

Review: Don't Hate the Player by Alexis Nedd

Don't Hate the Player  by  Alexis Nedd My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I just finished DON’T HATE THE PLAYER by Alexis Need. I needed something light and ended with a book that had a nail-biting kind of finale. This book is about two teenagers quite involved in online video games. They met as children and met again as opponents at a major online gaming competition. There are sparks, there is drama, and there are hectic moments in this book. I love the chemistry between Emelia and Jake. I also enjoyed the gaming matches descriptions; they were exciting and quite vivid. This book comes with all the teenage triggers: cyberbullying, insecurity, deception, and plain meanness. It also comes with the discovery of love, friendship, loyalty, and support. Great read overall! #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #r...

Review: The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave

The Last Thing He Told Me  by  Laura Dave My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE LAST THING HE TOLD ME by Laura Dave is a jaw-dropping read. The plot is intelligent, the characters well defined, and the ending perfect. I love how the author weaves the story and offers the reader many clues that make sense. I have read many books about angered teenagers lately and it was refreshing that the relationship between Hannah and her stepdaughter, Bailey, did not turn into a tragic family drama. The author kept is real. I loved this book. It is such a great read; perfect to bring with you to the beach or the cottage. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #thelastthinghetoldme #lauradave...

Review: The Photographer by Mary Dixie Carter

The Photographer  by  Mary Dixie Carter My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE PHOTOGRAPHER is Mary Dixie Carter’s first book. It was a good and disturbing read. It is told in the voice of Delta Dawn, a photographer obsessed with a successful family. It gives you insight into how troubled she is and how far she will go to get what she wants. The story is a mix of ONE HOUR PHOTO by Mark Romanek and FATAL ATTRACTION by H.B. Gilmour. It is a well-written book that will make you wish you will never meet someone like Delta. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #thephotographerbook #marydixiecarter #minotaurbooks #minotaurin...

Review: The Cave Dwellers by Christina McDowell

The Cave Dwellers  by  Christina McDowell My rating:  1 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I have a dear friend who told me once that she reads a book up to the number of pages equal to 100 minus her current age before she decides not to finish it. The older she gets, the fewer pages she reads before she quits a book. Although I love this idea, I never had to use this trick until I started THE CAVE DWELLERS by Christina McDowell. I love the cover and by looking at it, I thought it would be an interesting book. Never judge a book by its cover, they say. Unfortunately, this one was just not for me. That does not mean that it is not for you too. Have a look and decide if you think you will like it. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram...

Review: Homewrecker by Deanna Cameron

Homewrecker  by  Deanna Cameron My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! HOMEWRECKER by Deanna Cameron is an awesome book. I was not sure what to expect and I can say that this book surpassed all my expectations. I particularly enjoyed the main character, Bronwyn. The author succeeded to make me feel her pain, confusion, and anger. It is a deep and emotional character. The plot is solid and poignant. And look at this cover… it is such a great representation of the story. I truly enjoyed this read. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #homewreckerbook #deannacameron #wattpadbooks #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: When the Stars Go Dark by Paula McLain

When the Stars Go Dark by Paula McLain My rating: 4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I received a copy of WHEN THE STARS GO DARK by Paula McLain with my @sweetreadsbox. This book was a rollercoaster of nail-biting emotions. It was scary, unnerving, and ended with a “wow” moment. It is a well-written mystery/thriller with all the boxes checked. It comes with many triggers such as child abuse, child abduction, violence, and rape. As a parent, I found the plot hard to read at times because it brought up my biggest fears. I am glad that the book ended positively. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookreviewer #bookcommunity #bibliophile #whenthestarsgodark #paulamclain #doubledaybooks #penguinrandomhouse #bookreview View all my reviews

Review: Hurricane Summer by Asha Bromfield

Hurricane Summer  by  Asha Bromfield My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! HURRICANE SUMMER by Asha Bromfield was an emotional and heartbreaking story of a teenager visiting her father in Jamaica. I spent a good part of my life surrounded by lovely Jamaican people and I truly enjoyed how this book was true to the Jamaican culture. I particularly enjoyed the patois, the reference to the food, and the sass that only Jamaican women have. The author also infused the book with beautiful descriptions of the countryside and landmarks. The story will transport you to the beautiful island of Jamaica where you will experience this strong young woman’s coming of age, deceptions, and heartbreaks. Beautiful read. #bookstadog #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #can...
