Review: The Finders by Jeffrey B. Burton

The Finders  by  Jeffrey B. Burton My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I just finished reading The Finders by Jeffrey B. Burton. This is the first book in this series, and it is a great start. The book is well constructed and offers many nail-biting scenes. It also has several LOL moments. The story revolved mostly around Mace and his golden retriever Vera. Vera is trained to find human remains. They freelance for the Chicago police. After Mace and Vera solve a series of vicious crimes, their lives become in danger. Why are they targeted? Who is targeting them? This novel will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat to the last page. This is definitely a great book for crime story lovers who also love dogs. Great read!!! 🙋🏼‍♀️ Thank you, Minotaur Books for sending me an ARC of this compelling book. The Finders by Jeffrey B. Burton will be available at your favourite bookstore on June 30, 2020. #bookstadog #repostrover #readwithrovergroup #poodles #poodlestagram

Review: The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow

The Ten Thousand Doors of January  by  Alix E. Harrow My rating:  5 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! It feels good when I can reduce the number of books on my TBR list. The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow was a whimsical read. I enjoyed it so much. I love the characters (the good, the bad, and the ugly). The premise for the story is unique, touching, and mind-boggling. I enjoyed the diversity of the characters and the flow of the story. Stories within a story can be a risky affair, but Ms. Harrow delivers a solid link between them and it is beautiful. This book is about love, never giving up, making mistakes, and finding happiness. It is a must-read. #readwithrovergroup #bookstadog #repostrober #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #ilovebooks #bookishcanadians #canadianbookstagram #bookr

Blog Tour and Book Review: What Unbreakable Looks Like by Kate McLaughlin

📚 Hello Book Friend! I am so excited to be part of the blog tour for this emotionally charged novel: What Unbreakable Looks Like by Kate McLaughlin. This is Kate McLaughlin’s first novel. The writing is superb and pulls at the reader’s heartstrings. Her poignant writing makes you strongly feel for all these dysfunctional characters and you want to root for them to the end of the book. This novel is about a teenage girl who is rescued from human trafficking and her struggle to reintegrate into society and live a normal life. The story does not hide behind the bushes and can be explicit. It is an eye-opener and helped me understand better this dark world and the difficulties these young women or men face after they are rescued. In some way, this reminded me of Go Ask Alice by Beatrice Sparks but with a more positive ending. I appreciated the family and friend support angle provided in this book. This is an emotional and beautiful read. Pick up your copy today. Synopsys:   Lex was take

Review: The Stars From Me to You by Nicole Bea

The Stars From Me to You  by  Nicole Bea My rating:  3 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I was contacted recently by a Canadian book publisher asking if I would be interested to read one of their books. Of course, I said “yes”. Discovering new Canadian authors is always a pleasure. The Stars From Me to You by Nicole Bea is a middle-grade book that deals with many elements such as depression, sexual identity, losing a loved one, and finding a reason to live. Bellamie’s twin brother is in a coma after an accident. Rion is stuck in Limbo which is a place that is empty and yet filled with stars. Bellamie can visit Rion when she is dreaming. With the help of her dog Macaroni, they will learn the truth about Rion’s accident and what caused it. Will Rion move on to the next step of the afterlife or will he find a reason to live? . This book is a quick read, but it is also a deep insight into the psychological effects of losing someone. I was beautifully written but could have benefited from

Review: Mary Poppins Comes Back by P.L. Travers

Mary Poppins Comes Back  by  P.L. Travers My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! I just finished the second book in the Mary Poppins series by P.L Travers, entitled Mary Poppins Comes Back . The original Mary Poppins movie starring Julie Andrews has always been one of my favourite movies. In my head, Ms. Andrews’ voice is Mary Poppins’ voice. As I was writing this book, I tried to read it in this voice, but it was not working. The Mary Poppins in this book is different. She is stricter, more sarcastic, and sometimes plain mean. Despite that, the story is all you can expect from a Mary Poppins’ book with flying kites, jumping into pictures, and many more fantastic adventures and characters. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. #poodles #poodlestagram #poodlesofinstagram #furbabies #dogsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogsandbooks #bookishlife #bookishlove #bookstagrammer #book #books #booklover #bookish #bookaholic #reading #readersofinstagram #instaread #iloveboo

Review: The Half Sister

The Half Sister  by  Sandie Jones My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends I finished reading The Half Sister by one of my favourite authors, Sandie Jones. This novel is up with the times and uses the science of DNA to create a complex plot about Jess who claims to be the half sister of Lauren and Kate, who are true sisters. Kate refuses to believe that her dad would ever have an affair and is determined to prove that Jess is not who she claims to be while Lauren embraces the idea of having a half sister. The story is delivering many possibilities but not everyone is telling the truth. I enjoyed this book a lot. Sandie Jones is a master at throwing monkey wrenches in the story and misleading you. It is a great read and I recommend it to those who enjoyed Sandie Jones’ other books: The Other Woman and The First Mistake. 🙋🏼‍♀️ Thank you, Minotaur Books for sending me an eARC of this thrilling book. The Half Sister by Sandie Jones will be available at your favourite bookstore on J

Review: Magic Required

Magic Required: A Lochlan Ellyll Novel  by  H.S. Paisley My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello book friends! I finished listening to Magic Required by H.S. Paisley. Canadian author H.S. Paisley contacted me and asked if I would be willing to listen to her audiobook and provide a review. After reading the synopsis, I knew this book would be one that I would like. The recording of the audiobook is of high quality and well-executed. The narrator did an awesome job of emanating the emotions of the characters by modulating his voice. I really enjoyed this fantasy story. Lochlan Ellyll is a triplet, son of a demon god. He has lived an exceptionally long life and is particularly good at hiding who he is to the humans surrounding him. He has very few friends and lives mostly a solitary life. When he reconnects with the woman he used to be in love with and finds out that her life is in danger, his world is put upside down and he will do all he can to protect her. The story is well delivered and has
