Thank you again Double Day Canada for my copy of A Noise Downstairs by Linwood Barclay.

Nightmares are haunting Paul Davis and he is struggling to move on with his life after a violent near-death experience. It is a long road to recovery and in hope to get better, he is encouraged by his wife to write about his experience and face the nightmares which keep him up at night. But the nightmares have a different agenda and an old typewriter is ready to drive him to madness. The dreams are no longer dreams and the nightmares have plunged their claws into his reality. Paul is seeking help but will he find it before it is too late and lose his mind?

This was a nail-biting thriller which surprised me. The writing is superb and the characters well defined. There are hints here and there to solve the mystery; breadcrumbs which can easily be missed. The story is solid, logical and realistic. It deals with the struggles of PTS patient, the challenges they face every day, and the fragility of the mind. Great book!
