A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This book came highly recommended by an online book review site. It was well written, but felt to be all over the place. The analogy between this resilient tree growing from nothing and the resiliency of a poor family living in Brooklyn was good, but could have been exploited much more. I just felt that the book did not have a smooth flow. The author briefly addressed some parts of the story which in my opinion would have been nice to expand on and sometime she spent too much time on an event which brought very little to the story. It was still a nice read overall.
