The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I received a copy of "The Kiss of Deception" from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review of the book.
This is the story of Lia, a princess, who is promised to marry a prince from another kingdom. This marriage promises to create a strong alliance between the two kingdoms in order to defeat the barbarians who are menacing them. Lia is young and has her own dreams which do not include a loveless marriage to a stranger. This is where the story really begins. Lia makes her own choices and leave everything behind to find what her heart desires. Before she finds what she is looking for; she will face many challenges and revelations which will turn her world upside down.
I really enjoyed this first book of the series. The characters are interesting and well developed. Each has its own flavour and brings his or her own perspective to the story. Mary E. Pearson's writing style is fresh and well structured. People and landscape descriptions are well documented. This is a promising story and I am looking forward to reading the next book.
This is a YA book, but any adult would also enjoy reading it. It will be available at your favourite bookstore on July 15th, 2014.
