This is such a sweet and heartwarming “never too late” love story. I love the main character and relate to her struggles with her mother. The book gave me a “homey” feeling. The book had a lot of references to the Sixteen Candles movie. I haven’t seen this movie, so I will have to watch it soon to find out why Jake Ryan is so special. If you are in the mood for a light and feel-good story, this book will do just that. The Garden of Small Beginnings  by  Abbi Waxman My rating:  4 of 5 stars 📚 Hello Book Friends! THE GARDEN OF SMALL BEGINNINGS was an emotional read full of LOL moments. I love Abbi Waxman’s candid writing style. She will make you smile, laugh, and cry in one paragraph. This book deals with the difficult topic of grieving the loss of a spouse and find a way to move on. Losing the love of your life is difficult enough but expecting that someone should be able to get back on their feet after a short period of grieving is wrong. We all grieve differently. Luckily, Lilian had a fantastic support network during the month she was in a deep depression. Her support network did not let go of her even after she was back home. They continued to support her and move her in the direction of healing even four years after she lost her husband.
