The Companions by Katie M. Flynn My rating: 3 of 5 stars 📚 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀! I finished reading 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 by Katie M. Flynn. This science-fiction book has great elements: AI intelligence, pandemic outbreak, prejudice, violence, revenge, and the desire to survive. I was hoping for a novel like Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick (a.k.a. Blade Runner) or I, Robot by Isaac Asimov. It came close but did not hit the bullseye. It was a solid story, but the delivery was confusing. Beachside Beginnings: A Moonlight Harbor Novel by Sheila Roberts My rating: 4 of 5 stars 📚 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀! I try to change book genre every time I pick up a book to make the reading interesting and non-repetitive. I was happy to get a copy of 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 by Sheila Roberts from Harlequin Books. This is a charming story about a young woman who wants to start anew after being in an abusive relationship. She moves Moonlight Harbor and discovers that there are still lots of good people out there. But her past catches up to her and jeopardize her new happiness. Will she be able to escape her past? Can she be happy and find love again? This is an uplifting story of new beginnings, love, and friendship. The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides My rating: 5 of 5 stars 📚 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀! One good thing about social distancing and isolation is that it has given me more time to read books. I am happy to finally get to those best-sellers that have been waiting to be read for quite a while. One of these best-sellers is 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 by Alex Michaelides. The moment I started this book, I knew I was hooked. What a fantastic novel! The plot is well structured and totally surprising. The characters are mature and evoke so many emotions. This novel has all the right elements to make it a best-seller. The ending is a Jack-in-the-box surprise. Well done Mr. Michaelides on your first novel! Outfox by Sandra Brown My rating: 4 of 5 stars 📚 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀! I won this exciting book in a giveaway hosted by @grandcenralpub and @honeybee.reads. 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗳𝗼𝘅 by Sandra Brown is a fast-pace thriller story. Drex was 10 years old when his mother died. On his father’s death bed, Drex finds out that Weston Graham, a serial killer, murdered his mother. He swears to his dad to find his mother’s murderer and bring him to justice. Fast forward many years, Drex receives a tip that Weston Graham has changed his name to Jasper Ford and recently married a successful businesswoman named Talia Shafer. Under disguise, Drex will do all he can to get close to his nemesis before he kills again. Upon meeting Talia, Drex feels an immediate attraction. The Secret Hours by Santa Montefiore My rating: 4 of 5 stars 📚 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀! Some books pull the stings of your heart. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 by Santa Montefiore is one of those. The writing is beautiful and the story moving. It is a tale of forbidden love, loss, and defiance. After the death of her mother, Faye Clayton discovers that her mother Arethusa had many secrets. In order to find out Arethusa’s story, Faye goes to Ireland to read her mother’s journal and discover the truth of why she left her beloved home. Faye will be changed by what she discovers and will fall in love with her mother’s country. Will this change Faye and how she sees her life? Will she be able to go back to America and be happy? Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens My rating: 5 of 5 stars 📚 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀! I finished reading 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗱𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴 by Delia Owens. If you have not read this book yet, what are you waiting for? This is a masterpiece of literature! Delia Owens delivers an emotional story about Kya, the Marsh Girl. Death of an American Beauty by Mariah Fredericks My rating: 3 of 5 stars 📚 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀! I finished reading 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆 by Mariah Fredericks and here are my thoughts: This is the third book in the series. I have not read the first two and this put me at a disadvantage. The story was fast-paced and well written. I enjoyed the historical background on Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation and the suffrage and women’s rights. I struggle a bit with the plot and guess the ending too soon. That was a bit of a spoiler for the rest of my reading.
