Review: Defending Jacob

Defending Jacob by William Landay My rating: 5 of 5 stars It has been a while since I read a great courtroom book. "Defending Jacob" is definitely in that category. There are two stories in this book which come into a collision in the end. I was particularly interested to know more about some of the new sciences used to prove the innocence or the guiltiness of an accused. What if one day they can tell if someone will have violent or criminal tendencies just by looking at the genetic making of that person? Where would this lead? That's a scary thought! I rather believe that there goodness in everyone and that you are not what your genetic matter is... well at least I hope so. View all my reviews

Review: Gone Girl

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn My rating: 5 of 5 stars Wow!! What a ride!! I absolutely loved this book! This was a fantabulous and exciting read. So many twists and turns! The characters were surprising and well defined. It is always nice to read a book which has substance. "Gone Girl" not only has substance; it has texture. If "Gone Girl" is not on our To-Read list yet... you have to add it! Great great book! View all my reviews

Review: 30 Days of Relaxation: Fun Meditations for a Stress Free Life

30 Days of Relaxation: Fun Meditations for a Stress Free Life by Inbar Shahar My rating: 4 of 5 stars This is a fantastic short book on meditation and relaxation. I enjoyed the way the author structured the book by using the four elements and the beautiful imagery she described every day. I wish I had the book in an audio form; it would be easier to listen to it than to read it and try to remember the beautiful words while meditating. "30 Days of Relaxation: Fun Meditations for a Stress Free Life" is a great book and I recommend it to whomever would like to try meditation for the first time and to those who are expert at it and are looking at new ways to meditate. Review: Lose Your Inches Without Losing Your Mind

Lose Your Inches Without Losing Your Mind by Justine SanFilippo My rating: 3 of 5 stars I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. "Lose Your Inches Without Losing Your Mind" is a great step by step book on making healthy choices and lose inches... not weight. The book contains many well knows facts and introduces new ones. What I liked about this book is the way it is organised. It makes it easy for the reader to follow a plan and be successful in their journey to look the way they would like to. The book is filled with great tips and has a fantastic positive tone which makes it very pleasant to read and be encouraged to apply its principles. The author proposed that the reader should read one chapter a week to develop the healthy habits described in the chapter. I read the book in a few days and I concur with the author that the one chapter a week would be more effective. Great book overall; very positive and encouraging too. ...

Review: This Doesn't Happen In The Movies

This Doesn't Happen In The Movies by Renee Pawlish My rating: 3 of 5 stars I always loved the old detective film noir. This book has that flavour with a modern twist. I enjoyed the story and the characters. I particularly enjoyed the grand finale which was worthy of a Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep ending. This was a fun story filled with action and surprising twists. Great read! View all my reviews
