Mahvelous March at The Outlawz Color Challenge - Week 1

Welcome to a new month of challenges at the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. Sara selected our first color combo: Pink Flamingo, Sun Shower Yellow and Fiesta Orange. Our Mahvelous March Twist for this week is "Add a rosette".

I made the above card for a dear friend who recently turned the big 5-0. She enjoys yoga and I thought my new image called Lotus does Yoga would be perfect for this card. I broadly interpreted the twist by copying a flower from the inspiration image. I picked up the stamp for the inside sentiment in the $1.50 bin at Michael's. I really enjoyed working with this week color combo. I like these three colors together... so festive!!

First Card for the 13th CDAC Progressive Challenge

This is my first entry for the 13th Progressive Challenge at CDAC. You have to be a member of the CDAC site and also of the Progressing Challenge group in order to participate. For every challenge you get wonderful images from quality artists for FREE!! Oh yeah!! FOR FREE!!! There is a small fee if you are joining for the first time or have not met the "one project per challenge" minimum requirement ($1).

While surfing the net; I came across a page that contains lots of wonderful Irish proverbs. One in particular caught my attention: "May you live to be 100 years, with one extra year to repent." What a great way to live your life. :) I had to make a card with this wonderful saying and that's why I selected to use a wonderful image by Back to Paper called "Miss Beth". She looks like a little Irish girl to me and suited by purpose perfectly.

A Thank You card for Robin

Robin is a friend and also one of my co-workers. He is a wiz with computers. He recently re-formatted an old computer that was given to me and made it better than a new one. I am so grateful that he did that for me. Although he does not want anything in return; I have decided to get him a gift card from his favorite coffee shop and I made this card to thank him.

Unfortunately, I don't know who is the artist who created this fun cat digi. If you do, please let me know. I like to give credit to the artists. The front Thank You is from a set of rubber stamp sentiments I got at the Dollarama and the inside sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations.

All the papers are from my scrap box. I don't like waste and it always feel good when I am able to use my scraps.

Fly so high to catch the sky - New challenge at GI

Every time I see a challenge that has to do with wings; I start singing "Wind beneath my wings" by Bette Midler. So it was no exception that I started to sing this song when my dear friend Sara challenged us to make a project that has things with wings. Unfortunately, due to health issues, Sara had to step down from Guylou's Inimitability Design Team. We were all very sad to see her leave and we pray for a quick recovery. Sara, you are the wind beneath my wings! Get well soon!

The good news is that my dear friend Roxann will join us on the team. Roxann and I have been teamies on The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge for a year and she is wonderful. We are so happy to have her on the team. Welcome Roxann!

So for Sara's challenge I made a birthday card with Fairy Bear. I usually keep my cards very simple... less risk to mess it up. But this time around I got embellishments busy. The challenge starts today and ends on March 1st at 10pm. Remember if you use one of my images, you get two entries in the challenge. Last challenge for the month of February at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. This week Roxann is challenging us to use Black, White and your favorite Color.

I cheated a bit. I used a Dark Orange as my favorite color. Well, although it is one of my favorite colors... pink will always be my first love. For this project I used a digi by Beyond the Fringe Creations, called Stacked cups. I have lots of friends who enjoys their coffees, so I know I will be able to use this card for one of them.

This week is a sad week. My dear friend Sara had to step down from the Outlawz DT and we will miss her. I pray that her health will improve and that the Lord will bring total healing to her body. Hang in there, Sara! We love you!

I decided not to use an image this week and make a thank you card for all white elements. I added a Thanks that I had on a sheet of rub-on words. The Fleur-de-lys punch is by EK. I used my Cricut to cut the Fleur-de-lys flourish. For the inside, I used a wonderful stamp set which I think is by Inkadinkadoo.

First Card for the 12th CDAC Progressive Challenge

This time around, I used a fun image created by Fred She Said called Nolan and the BullFrog. I used it to made a birthday card for my brother Jacques. Although he is in his 50s; he is a big kid at heart. I know he will appreciate this image as he captured his fare share of frogs when he was a child.

Growing up I was a real tomboy. I loved to wear jeans and t-shirts more than dresses and pretty clothes. My poor mom was beside herself every time I walked in the house covered with dirt from head to toes. It was not before my 18th birthday that I finally decided that maybe I should look like a girl since that is what I am. I started wearing dresses and pretty clothes. I even let my hair grow long. I started wearing make up and finally graduated to pumps and cute shoes soon after. It was a real extreme make over. Many years later, I still wear dresses and pretty clothes, but I also love to wear my jeans and t-shirts... they are so much more comfortable. ;)

So when Brenda came up with the new challenge at Guylou's Inimitability and challenged us to make a project using lace and pearls, it brought back all the memories I wrote above.

A while ago, my dear friend Gina gave me some beautiful paper pads. The papers are so pretty and I already used a few on other projects and I knew I wanted to use one set in particular for this one. It is called Madeline by Prima Marketing. I just love the beautiful flower patterns and the great tags that match. I used one of my new images called Lotus goes shopping. I used the version with long hair; it also come with a short hair version. I added a little bit of lace and a whole lot of pink pearls to make it as girly girly as possible.

It is Winter in Canada and also time for colds, flus and other Winter related illnesses. I always ran out of Get Well cards this time of year. I used my Rainy Day Bear to make this one. The fabric twist was a real twist for me. I had to pull out all my craft supplies to finally find these shiny fabric stars I bought at the Dollarama years ago. What a relief!! I couldn't wait to start using my bear images for my cards. I had such a good time drawing them; I just wanted to see how easy they are to color and how they can embellish any cards. I really love this color combo, it's simply beautiful and I know I will use it again soon.

Winter Wonderland Color Challenge at GI

A new year has started... New beginnings! New adventures!! I am so happy GI's challenges are back and to be able to host the first one this year. I decided to challenge you to make a project with the following Winter colors.

I visited with my mom and dad over the Christmas holidays and I got to see some snow. We haven't had much in T.O. so it was nice to see everything covered in white. While I visited with them, I got to draw new images. One afternoon, as I was lying on my childhood bed and trying to come up with some new images; I noticed my old bear sitting on a shelf. I liked that little bear, but did not play much with him because I was never really interested in dolls and teddy bears while growing up (cars and trucks interested me more, lol!). So, I decided to make a series of images with teddy bears of all sorts. For this project, I decided to use Winter Bear who is all wrapped up for a cold winter day... perfect for this challenge.

I kind of put the snow globe together without any patterns. I like it! I hope I will remember how to do it again. The inside is hard to read. It says:

Sending you a good Canadian winter wish for your birthday

May your day be refreshing like a cold Northern wind and

heartwarming like a delicious hot chocolate after a day

playing in the snow.

My brother loses his cool faster than you can say the word "Cool". I still love him to death and have learned over the years how to diffuse him quickly. This week Kim is challenging us to make a Christmas card with a wreath twist. For my project, I decided to use Dorothy and Gift. I made the wreath using a branch punch by Martha Stewart. I added some Stickles on the branches, but the pictures don't show that very well. :(

We all have so much to be thankful for: friends, family, food and shelter, even the air we breathe. As the American Thanksgiving is approaching we are given again the opportunity to count our blessings and to be thankful to those who bless us.

This week the challenge at Guylou's Inimitability is to create a Thanksgiving or Thank you card and make sure there is a turkey somewhere on it. For my project I used Thanksgiving Goodies and created a border with little turkey on it with my Sure Cutz a Lot. F A L L Recipe Challenge at Guylou's Inimitability

I don't know if you noticed in your part of the world that Fall is here. In Toronto, I definitely noticed. The leaves have changed into these beautiful tones of red, orange and yellow and the temperature has taken a major deep (this part I don't like much). In honor of FALL, Guylou's Inimitability has a new challenge. Gina will be our host and she is challenging us to make a project following this F A L L recipe:

F = Fabric
A = Amber (color)
L = Lace
L = Leaf or leaves

I love recipe challenges. It makes it easier for me to make a card. I had a bit of a challenge with the fabric item, but after finding a stash of fabric odds and ends in my sowing stuff, I had the idea to make a flower. I somewhat followed a patterned I found at Maize Hutton.

I used Dorothy and Pumpkins for my project. I had fun coloring her. I used amber colored gems to decorate the card and a beautiful lace my friend Theresa from South Africa sent me. You will find my leaf in the center of the flower. :D

What a surprise!!!

I am blessed with such wonderful and caring friends. Who can ask for more? My DT and friends have put together a blog hop in honour of my birthday! I found out early this morning by mistake. I usually do not check my bog until I get to work, but my BlackBerry is not working properly and needed to sync it. When I checked my email, I was surprise to see a lot of activity coming from my blog. I checked and Wow!!

This is by far the best birthday gift I ever had! Friendship is the best gift! To know that friends care enough to go through all that trouble to let you know that they are there for you, is a wonderful feeling!!! I am blessed with such friends. You are the best!!

You made my day! Now I am late for work! :) I have the best excuse though!!

Christmas Card Therapy

I worked really hard today. I clean my entire basement. When I mean cleaning, I mean cleaning: dusting, washing, vacuuming, scrubbing and scrubbing some more. I started at 8:30am this morning and stopped at 8:00pm. I was exhausted, in pain and totally drained; I just wanted to crawl to bed. I really wanted to, but just couldn't do it. I felt I needed to relax and what better way to relax than coloring images. I needed to get started on my Christmas cards and I chose Roger and Chuck get a Christmas tree for my first one. I was amazed at how easy it all came together. It was like Christmas Card therapy for my weary brain and body. I really needed it!

Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge at Guylou's Inimitability

Guylou's Inimitability has a new challenge. Sara will be our host and she is challenging us to make a project which is mostly pink and must have a pink ribbon visible on it. As you guessed, this challenge is about Breast Cancer Awareness. Breast cancer is a nasty thing. I have a few friends that had it and now are a testimony of courage and endurance. Early detection is important and is the best weapon we have to fight this cancer. Self and medical examination and regular mammograms are the best way to detect changes in your breasts.

In honour of this important awareness campaign, I created a new digistamp called Gabrielle and Ribbon. For a short while, you can get her free. All the details are available on Guylou's Inimitability Challenge Blog.

I made the above card with the hope that I will never have to use it. I used Leah and bra because just like a bra offers support, I hope to be a supportive friend to anyone who would be facing breast cancer. This digistamp comes with two free sentiments.

It's so much fun! I really like the new challenge concept at CDAC. You get free digistamps and there are prizes. All you have to do is enter at least one project in every challenge to continue to get the free images. If you miss or have not participated yet; there is a $1 buy in option (that's a deal!!!).

This time around a lot of the images have a Halloween theme. Since I don't celebrate this event, I was a bit stunned at first. I brainstormed with my 19 year old son to see which image I could use for a birthday card. We both agree that Frankie Stein by Bonibleaux Designs Digis would be fun to use to highlight body changes caused by aging.

I like to make cards way in advance so I don't find myself staying up late the night before someone's birthday making them a birthday card. I am working on my November cards now. This one is for a co-worker who is also a friend of my daughter. He likes to tease me by telling me that he will marry my daughter so he can enjoy my cooking all the time. This week I brought him a big container of homemade chili and some homemade buns. He's a good kid and fun to work with... so I tried to make a card that is fun like him.

I use Chuck and Sparkler - Blank Flag. I use Photoshop to add the words "You Rock" on the flag. The papers are by Pink Paislee.

I made this card for my brother for his upcoming birthday. Raymond is a cool guy. He is also an artist. I have been trying to convince him to draw digistamps for me, but he is too busy. He works full time and he also hosts a radio program once a week. Not to mention all the work he does to help others. He has a real big heart. Not only he is cool... he is a great guy.

It is time for another challenge at Guylou's Inimitability. I will be your host and I am challenging you to make a "Thank you" card and at least one star must be on your project. The star can be an embellishment, a stamp or digistamp or on any of the papers you will use.

I made the above card with one of my new images called "Genie". Genie is lounging and relaxing after a long day granting wishes. I used my Fiskars Golden marker to color the lamp and the bowl. I used vellum for her skirt and added some stars to her turban and shoes. The papers are by Jillibean and are called "Soup Staples" and "Chilled Strawberry Soup".

I designed several new school images for this challenge. You can find them all in my online store. I selected Joel for my project. Joel is a just starting High School and we can see him texting his friends on his smart phone.

I chose a quote from Dr. Seuss which I thought sums up what it takes to make it through High School and life in general.

This time, the challenge is to make a project with a school theme. I have such a hard time with this theme, since my kids are big and I don't really need to make cards for teachers anymore. So I decided to use the theme and twist it into a birthday card and a lesson I learned in the school of life.

I made this card to thank a lady who was so kind to lend me a traditional Indian Outfit this weekend. I was invited to a co-worker's wedding. They are Indus and their clothes are so colorful and beautiful. I knew that this would be a rare occasion where I could wear a true Indian outfit and was so happy when this lady told me that she would lend me one. It was sooo comfortable!!! Guylou's Inimitability is having a much easier challenge this week. Carmen is our host and she prepared a wonderful sketch. I love sketches!!! Once I figure out which papers I want to use, it is a piece of cake. Here's the sketch:

I made the above card for a friend who is getting married in a few weeks. I wanted the card to be colorful and fun and I needed to make sure there would be red and gold on it as these are the traditional wedding colors in their culture. The image I used is new and is called Romeo and Juliette - Version 1. I created two versions of the image to match different cultures. You can see the other version here. The papers are by Bella Blvd; in their collections: Sophisticates (#215-Sprinkles & Lace & #223-Tail Tags) and Family Dynamix (#189-The Littlest Things).

Farewell card for my manager

Two Child Birthday Cards

Just got two orders for child birthday cards from two clients. The first one had to have a Disney Cars theme. I did not have a digi of this very popular little car and since Disney images are copyrighted, I decided to search on the internet for a Cars coloring page and found one at Squidoo.

I always have a bit of a hard time with child birthday cards. I want to make sure they are bright, fun and safe.

Just a tidbit about the little car I used as a prop in my photo. I purchased that little car when I was about 7 years old with my own money. While I was visiting my parents recently, I found it in my old closet and decided to bring it back with me out of nostalgia. I am glad I did... it is a perfect prop for this card.

The second order was for a two year old godchild. My client requested that his name be on the card and to use little boy colors. I had this beautiful rubber stamp by SonLight Impressions called Celebration. I have never used it before and thought it would be perfect for a two year old child card. It did not fit properly on the card I was making, so I stamped it, scanned it and resized it to what I needed. Isn't it the sweetest little birthday bear you have ever seen?

I am the host for this Guylou's Inimitability challenge. I thought to spice it up a bit by asking that the project be NOT a card while using these sweet summer colors:

Well, well, well... that was not easy. I guest I am so used to make cards; I had to put my thinking cap on and see what I could come up with. Then I had an "Eureka" moment! I have a bunch of yellow sticky pads in my house and I figure it would be a nice little gift if I would create a holder for them. I used a empty cereal box to make the cover and some paper that was awesome for the color combo. I also used a new image called "Breakfast" and colored it to match. I am quite happy with the result.

This week at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge, we will be using Lemon Yellow, Lime Green and Crisp White. This week Juicy July is "Add frame or slide mount".

Although it is not very visible, my frame is actually the card itself. I cute a large area of the front of the card to create a white frame for the card. The cute image is by our sponsor for this month: Di's Digi Downloads and is called "Giving Bear".

Juicy July at The Outlawz Tuesday Colour Challenge - Week 4

This week at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge, we will be using Sun Shower, Ultra Pure White and Planetarium Blue. This week Juicy July is "Add doodles".

I made the above card for my very best friend Patsy. She is the kind of friend who sticks through thick and thin. While I was going through a very rough patch in my life, Patsy was an anchor and helped me through it. I am so happy to have her as a friend. For my card, I used a Guylou's Inimitability image called Julia. Julia remind me a bit of Patsy. I hand doodles the border of the card for this week twist.

Another Wedding Card

Surprisingly and pleasantly, I got another order for a wedding card from another co-worker. The tricky thing is that it is for the same wedding as the other order.
